Adoptable Dachshund Mix Luna (26-183)

🐾 Meet Luna, AKA “Potato”! 🥔💕

Your Perfect Couch Potato & Forever Snuggle Buddy!

🐶 Breed: Dachshund Mix
🎂 Age: 8 Years Old
⚖️ Weight: 32 lbs. (working on losing a few!)
💗 Gender: Female

Looking for the ultimate snuggle buddy, loyal companion, and professional couch potato? Meet Luna, affectionately known as “Potato!” 🥔💕

This sweet, lovable girl is the perfect combination of cuddly, calm, and incredibly well-behaved! At 8 years young and approximately 32 pounds, Luna is searching for her forever couch… um, we mean forever HOME! 🏡❤️

Luna’s foster parents have fostered more than 60 dogs over the past 10 years, and they say she is BY FAR the easiest, most well-behaved, and snuggliest dog they have ever had in their care! Now THAT is quite a compliment! 🌟

🐕 Other Dogs & Cats

Luna is wonderful with dogs of all sizes! She currently shares her foster home with a 70-pound Shepherd and a 20-pound Dachshund and gets along beautifully with both. She has excellent doggy manners and enjoys occasional gentle play.

🐱 Cats: While Luna hasn’t lived with cats, she encountered several at the veterinarian’s office and showed absolutely no reaction. Her foster believes she would likely do well with feline friends, although this hasn’t been confirmed in a home setting.

👨‍👩‍👧 Children & Family

Luna would do best in an adult household or a home with respectful, dog-savvy children ages 12 and older. A home without young children is recommended.

She would make a fantastic companion for a single person, couple, or small family looking for an easygoing, affectionate best friend. She could even be an excellent first dog!

🦮 Leash Manners & Walks

Luna is a dream on a leash! She enjoys leisurely strolls, walks quietly alongside her person, and doesn’t require strenuous exercise.

She can be a little timid in unfamiliar places, so patience and gentle encouragement are appreciated. She’s equally happy exploring a fenced yard or enjoying a few relaxing leash walks each day.

🏡 House Training

EXCELLENT! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Luna is completely house-trained and hasn’t had a single accident in her foster home!

When she needs a potty break, she simply goes to the door to let you know. What a smart girl!

💤 Crate Training & Sleeping Arrangements

Luna is perfectly crate-trained! She enters her crate willingly, settles quietly, and enjoys peaceful naps inside.

Because she has such wonderful house manners, her foster family only crates her when nobody is home, as a precaution for all the dogs.

Luna enjoys cozy dog beds, guest beds, and lounging on the couch, but her absolute FAVORITE sleeping spot is snuggled up beside her humans in the big bed! ❤️

She’s called Potato for a reason — she’s the sweetest little couch potato you’ll ever meet!

🦴 Food, Treats & Toys

Luna hasn’t shown any food or treat aggression. She eats her meals in her crate because another dog in her foster home is protective of food, and the family keeps mealtimes separate.

She enjoys quietly playing with toys, carrying them around, and snuggling with her favorites.

🚗 Car Rides

Luna LOVES car rides! 🚙💕

She’s a fantastic little co-pilot who is always happy to tag along for an adventure. Whether it’s a short trip or a relaxing drive, Potato is ready to ride!

❤️ Meeting New People & Dogs

Luna is friendly and engaging when meeting people outside the home. However, when unfamiliar visitors enter her house, she may bark loudly until she feels comfortable.

Her foster family gives her a little time in her crate, which serves as her safe space, to adjust to visitors. Once she realizes everything is okay, she happily comes out to greet everyone and soak up the attention!

And yes, treats definitely help! 🦴

Luna does wonderfully meeting new dogs when introductions are handled properly.

🌸 Personality & Adjustment

Luna has experienced some major life changes, and she was understandably shy and uncertain when she first arrived in foster care.

Within just a few days, she began to relax and show her adorable personality!

Her future family will need to give her patience, space, and quiet downtime while she adjusts to her new surroundings.

Once Luna trusts you, get ready for some seriously heart-melting affection!

💕 She SMILES when she’s happy to see you!

💕 She gives the sweetest little neck hugs!

💕 She makes adorable happy grunting sounds!

💕 She LOVES to burrow into the couch and snuggle!

💕 She’ll happily keep you company while you work from home or watch television!

Luna’s idea of the perfect day is spending quality time with her favorite humans, enjoying a leisurely stroll, and curling up for some serious snuggle time.

⛈️ Anxiety, Barking & Being Home Alone

Luna is a quiet, easygoing girl who does not bark excessively.

She isn’t bothered by thunderstorms or loud noises and shows no signs of separation anxiety.

Her barking is primarily reserved for unfamiliar visitors entering the home. Once she’s comfortable, she settles down and happily seeks attention.

One funny little quirk? Luna occasionally chews on her toenails! Her foster believes this may be a boredom-related habit. She doesn’t damage her nails, but it’s something her new family should be aware of.
