💙 Meet Blue!
🐶 Male Dachshund | 1.5 Years Old | 14.5 lbs.
Blue is a very special boy with a heart as big as his personality. 💙 This sweet young dachshund was born with his eyes, but sadly, he is now blind. Being blind hasn’t stopped Blue from being a happy, loving and affectionate boy who enjoys life!
In fact, Blue’s hearing is absolutely incredible. He knows his name, and hearing someone call “Blue!” is one of the things that makes him the happiest boy. 🥰
Blue is a double dapple, and while his vision may be gone, he has learned to rely on his amazing hearing and other senses to navigate the world around him. He deserves a patient, loving family who will help him feel safe and give him the opportunity to show just how much he CAN do. ❤️

👧 Children: Blue is good with children of all ages.
🐕 Meeting New Dogs: Friendly and happy to meet them.
👋 Meeting New People: Friendly and welcoming.
Blue would especially benefit from having another friendly dog in his forever home. A canine companion can give him a buddy to follow and help him become comfortable navigating his new surroundings.

Despite being blind, Blue is not shy or timid. Once he learns his surroundings and knows where everything is, his other senses help him find his way.
💕 Being Home Alone
Blue shows mild signs of separation anxiety when he is completely alone. However, he does much better when other dogs are around. This is another reason a friendly canine companion would be a wonderful match for him.

🏡 Blue’s Ideal Forever Home
Because Blue cannot see, his safety is especially important. His ideal home would have:
🐾 A securely fenced yard where he can safely explore.
🐶 Another friendly dog to be his companion and help guide him.
🚫🏊 No swimming pool, since Blue cannot see where the pool begins and a home without one would be safest.
💙 A Special Dog Deserving a Special Family
Blue may experience the world a little differently, but he doesn’t let blindness define him. He is sweet, friendly, social and full of love. He enjoys other dogs, cats, children, walks, car rides and being close to his people.
What Blue needs most is a family willing to be patient while he learns the layout of his new home and builds confidence in his surroundings. Give him consistency, kindness and a little guidance, and Blue will show you just how incredible a blind dog can be.
💙 Blue doesn’t need to see his family to know they love him — he just needs the chance to find them. 🐾
