๐Ÿพ Meet Beckett โ€“ Your New Best Friend! ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’™ Available for Adoption through Low Rider Dachshund Rescue ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿถ Name: Beckett
๐ŸŽ‚ Age: 4 years old
โš–๏ธ Weight: 15 lbs.
๐Ÿพ Breed: Dachshund
๐Ÿ’™ Gender: Male

๐Ÿ’• Meet Sweet Beckett!

Beckett is an adorable, affectionate, curious little guy with a big personality and an even bigger love for his humans! This handsome boy enjoys walks, squeaky toys, cozy naps, and being included in whatever his favorite people are doing.

He’s a wonderful mix of playful and cuddly, and he’s looking for a loving family who will continue helping him learn, build confidence, and enjoy the good life!

๐Ÿ• Dog & Cat Compatibility

  • ๐Ÿพ Small Dogs: Beckett does well with other dogs his size and gets along wonderfully with his dachshund foster brother.

  • ๐Ÿ• Large Dogs: Although he has previously been around larger dogs without issues, a recent introduction to a large dog in his foster home made him uncomfortable and very guarded. A home without large dogs would be best.

  • ๐Ÿฑ Cats: No cats, please! Beckett has a strong prey drive and would likely chase them.

  • ๐Ÿ’• Ideal Companion: Beckett would enjoy a compatible, friendly small dog, but he would also be perfectly happy as an only dog receiving all the attention!

๐Ÿ‘ง Children

  • Beckett has been around children and can do well with proper supervision.

  • He appreciates having his personal space respected.

  • A home without young children is preferred.

  • Older, dog-savvy children who understand gentle interactions and canine boundaries would be a better match.

๐Ÿฆฎ Leash Training & Walks

  • โœ… Walks very well on a leash and absolutely LOVES his walks!

  • ๐Ÿพ Gets excited the moment he sees his harness because he knows an adventure is coming.

  • ๐Ÿ’™ Enjoys walking alongside his dachshund foster brother.

  • ๐ŸŒณ Loves exploring, sniffing, and checking out his surroundings.

  • โš ๏ธ When passing other dogs, Beckett may want to greet them but can become tense when they get close. It’s best to keep walking rather than allow on-leash greetings.

  • ๐ŸฆŽ Has a strong prey drive and may chase squirrels, birds, lizards, and other small animals. He must always be securely leashed or supervised in a safely enclosed area.

๐Ÿก Potty Training

  • โœ… Mostly housetrained, but still a work in progress.

  • โฐ Does best with a consistent potty schedule.

  • ๐Ÿพ Still learning how to let his humans know when he needs to go outside.

  • ๐ŸŒฑ Sometimes needs encouragement to potty on the grass. His foster may gently pick him up and place him there, which he doesn’t mind.

  • ๐Ÿ’ฆ Once on the grass, he usually understands what he’s supposed to do.

  • ๐Ÿ  May have been accustomed to using a patio or similar surface in his previous home.

  • โš ๏ธ Occasional accidents can happen, especially if he isn’t taken outside immediately after being crated.

  • ๐Ÿ’• Patience, positive reinforcement, and consistent verbal potty cues will help him continue making progress.

Important: Beckett should be taken directly outside after waking up or being released from his crate or playpen. He sometimes needs extra time and encouragement to finish both peeing and pooping before returning indoors.

๐Ÿ’ค Crate Training & Sleeping

  • โœ… Crate trained and sleeps through the night.

  • โฐ Loves his routine! His internal clock is very accurate, and he typically wakes around 6 AM and barks to request his morning potty break.

  • ๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ Loves cuddling on the couch with his humans.

  • ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Enjoys curling up on the bed with his dachshund foster brother while his foster mom works.

  • ๐Ÿ’• Loves being cozy and close to his favorite people.

  • ๐Ÿชœ Currently learning to use dog ramps to safely access furniture. Continued practice is encouraged to protect his dachshund back.

๐Ÿงธ Toys & Resource Guarding

  • ๐Ÿงธ Absolutely LOVES toys, especially little squeaky toys!

  • ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ No food aggression or food possessiveness toward people or other dogs.

  • ๐Ÿ’• Comfortable with humans handling or removing his toys.

  • โœ… Has never shown growling, snapping, or biting toward people over toys.

  • โš ๏ธ May guard a favorite toy from another dog and could growl or snap if another dog tries to take it.

  • ๐Ÿพ This behavior has been manageable in his foster home by supervising playtime and removing high-value toys when necessary.

His future family should understand that shared toy time with other dogs needs supervision and appropriate management.

๐Ÿš— Car Rides

  • ๐Ÿš™ Car rides are still a work in progress.

  • ๐Ÿ’™ Beckett currently gets nervous and frightened during rides.

  • ๐Ÿพ Short, positive trips and gentle reassurance will help him build confidence.

  • ๐Ÿ’• He needs a patient family willing to help him become more comfortable traveling.

๐Ÿฅฐ Personality & Socialization

  • ๐Ÿ’™ Sweet, affectionate, curious, and social.

  • ๐Ÿฅฐ Loves attention and spending time with his humans.

  • ๐Ÿพ Generally friendly when meeting new people.

  • ๐Ÿ’• May jump up when excited to greet someone and is learning to keep all four paws on the floor.

  • ๐Ÿ• Can be unsure in larger groups but gains confidence by watching his friendly foster brother.

  • ๐Ÿถ Does best meeting dogs around his own size.

  • โค๏ธ More of a people person than a dog’s dog, although he enjoys having a compatible canine friend.

  • ๐Ÿงธ Playful and fun, but also loves relaxing and cuddling.

  • ๐Ÿพ Still learning to recognize his name and needs continued positive reinforcement.

โ›ˆ๏ธ Anxiety, Noises & Barking

  • ๐ŸŒฉ๏ธ Thunderstorms frighten Beckett, and he may seek comfort from his human or canine companion.

  • ๐Ÿ”Š Other loud or unfamiliar noises usually make him curious rather than fearful.

  • ๐Ÿพ Generally a quiet little guy who rarely barks.

  • ๐Ÿšช May bark at the doorbell, unusual sounds, or when other dogs are barking.

  • ๐Ÿ’• No significant signs of separation anxiety.

  • ๐Ÿก May bark briefly when his humans leave or when first confined, but eventually settles and relaxes.

๐Ÿก Beckett’s Ideal Forever Home

Beckett would thrive with a family who can offer:

  • ๐Ÿ’™ Plenty of love, attention, and cuddle time.

  • ๐Ÿพ A home without cats or other small prey animals.

  • ๐Ÿ• Either a compatible small canine companion or a home where he can be the only dog.

  • ๐Ÿ‘ง No young children; older, respectful, dog-savvy children preferred.

  • ๐ŸŒณ Daily walks and opportunities to safely explore.

  • โฐ A consistent potty schedule and patience as he finishes housetraining.

  • ๐Ÿงธ Supervised toy time if other dogs are present.

  • ๐Ÿชœ Continued encouragement to use ramps instead of jumping.

  • ๐Ÿš— Gentle confidence-building with car rides.

  • ๐Ÿ’• A family who understands his little quirks and will help him continue growing into the wonderful companion he is becoming!
