🐾 Meet Bandit – An Adorable, Energetic Little Guy Looking for a Special Home! 🐾
🐶 Name: Bandit
💙 Gender: Male
🎂 Age: 8 Months
⚖️ Weight: 11 lbs.
🐾 Breed: Dachshund (Wirehaired)
💕 Meet Bandit!
Bandit is an incredibly adorable, intelligent, and energetic little guy with the classic scruffy look of a wirehaired Dachshund! At just 8 months old, this handsome puppy is full of personality, curiosity, and enthusiasm for life.
Bandit is a smart boy who already knows how to sit, shake, and turn around! He absolutely loves his daily walks, enjoys meeting new people, and is always ready for some fun. When he’s not busy playing, he loves relaxing on the couch and getting belly rubs from his favorite humans.
But as adorable as Bandit is, he has some significant behavioral challenges that require a very experienced, patient, and committed adopter. Please read his entire bio carefully to determine whether you could be the right match for this special boy.

🐕 Other Dogs & Cats
Bandit gets along with all the dogs in his foster home, including two Rottweilers! He is also friendly when meeting new dogs and is not reactive toward dogs while out on walks.
However, Bandit plays EXTREMELY rough! He is still a puppy with lots of energy and doesn’t always understand when playtime should slow down. He would not be a good match for older, sedentary, or less playful dogs. Any canine companions would need to enjoy very physical, energetic play.
🐱 His compatibility with cats is unknown.
👧 Children
Although Bandit has gotten along with visiting children, he will NOT be placed in a home with children. Due to his behavioral challenges, particularly his severe food aggression and puppy mouthiness, an adult-only home is required.
🦮 Leash Training & Walks
Bandit is a pleasure to walk! He has no issues wearing a harness or leash and absolutely LOVES his daily walks. He enjoys meeting people along the way and shows no reactivity toward other dogs.
🏡 Potty Training
Bandit is still working on house training. He uses potty pads and will occasionally let his foster know when he needs to go outside. He does not currently potty during his walks, so his new family will need to continue working with him patiently and consistently.
🛏️ Crate Training & Sleeping Habits
Bandit’s current foster has never crated him, but his previous owners reported that he did well in a crate when no one was home.
He loves his dog beds, although he sometimes chews them up! Bandit also has difficulty settling down to sleep, so sharing the big bed with his humans may not be the best arrangement for him.

🍖 IMPORTANT: Severe Food Aggression
This is the most important part of Bandit’s adoption requirements.
Bandit has SEVERE food aggression that requires careful management and ongoing behavioral modification.
-
He MUST be fed in a completely separate room with a closed door. A playpen or crate is not sufficient.
-
He CANNOT be free-fed under any circumstances.
-
He becomes anxious around food left on the floor, food bags, and food storage containers.
-
His foster family has developed a specific feeding and management routine that is helping control his food-related aggression.
-
His adopter MUST be experienced with behavioral modification techniques, particularly those involving food aggression and anxiety, and committed to continuing his training.
Experience with behavior modification is not optional for Bandit. It is an absolute requirement.
Bandit needs someone who understands that managing his food aggression is essential for the safety and well-being of everyone in his home.
🚗 Car Rides
Bandit enjoys going for car rides and is happy to accompany his humans on adventures!
🥰 Personality & Socialization
Bandit generally LOVES everyone! He is friendly when meeting new people and dogs, isn’t shy or timid, and enjoys getting attention.
He is a typical energetic puppy in many ways. He loves to play, can sometimes be mouthy, and is still learning appropriate manners. His foster family is actively working on these behaviors.
Bandit is also incredibly affectionate and loves lounging on the couch for some quality belly-rub time!
❤️ Anxiety & Being Home Alone
In addition to his severe food aggression, Bandit displays signs of anxiety, primarily related to food and its presence in his environment.
He is currently taking permanent medication to help manage his anxiety.
Bandit does not appear bothered by thunderstorms, is not an excessive barker, and has not displayed separation anxiety in his foster home. However, his fosters are rarely away for extended periods, so his response to longer periods alone is unknown.

-
🍖 Be committed to strict food management, including feeding Bandit separately behind a closed door.
-
🐾 Understand puppy behaviors and be willing to continue his training.

🌟 Could You Be Bandit’s Special Person?
Bandit is an incredibly smart, lovable, and entertaining little Dachshund with so much potential! He has a wonderful personality, loves people, enjoys his walks, and is always ready to curl up for a belly rub.
While his food aggression and anxiety present real challenges, his foster family has already made progress in managing these behaviors through a structured routine.
Bandit deserves a home where his needs are understood, his boundaries are respected, and his adopter is prepared to provide the structure, training, and love he needs.
⚠️ PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING: Bandit is NOT a good fit for first-time dog owners or families with children. Applicants with small children will not be considered, and experience with behavior modification, particularly food aggression and anxiety, is a MUST.
