💕 About Toby

Meet sweet Toby! This adorable 6-year-old Dachshund is a loving little guy with a big heart! At just 12 lbs., he’s the perfect size for cuddling and companionship.

Toby is incredibly sweet, loves snuggling with his person, and would make a wonderful companion. He may be a little tentative when first meeting someone, but he warms up quickly and is ready to share his love!

🐕 Personality & Temperament

• ❤️ Very sweet, affectionate, and loves snuggles.

• 🥰 Initially a little cautious with new people but warms up quickly.

• 🐾 Not generally shy or timid.

• 💕 Showed a little anxiety during his first few days in foster care, but has settled in beautifully.

• 🏡 No signs of separation anxiety. He’s content when his foster comes and goes and is always happy when she returns!

• 🔔 May bark when he hears or smells something outside, but quickly quiets down when called.

• 🌩️ Loud noises seem to make him uncomfortable. His reaction to thunderstorms is unknown.

• 🐕 Other Dogs: Unknown. Toby has not been around other dogs while in foster care.

• 🐱 Cats: Unknown.

• 👧 Children: Not yet evaluated.

🚶 Walks, Leash & Safety

• 🦮 Walks nicely on a leash and enjoys going for walks!

• 🌳 Loves getting outside and exploring.

• ⚠️ Important: Toby is a runner and must never be left outside unattended or allowed off-leash in an unsecured area. His forever family will need to be especially careful with doors, gates, and outdoor safety.

🏡 House Training & Sleeping

• 🚽 House Training: Still a work in progress! Toby is not 100% housetrained yet, but he’s learning.

• 🌞 He goes potty immediately when taken outside, although he still occasionally has accidents indoors.

• 💤 Sleeps peacefully through the night without issues.

• 🏠 Crate Trained: Yes! Toby enjoys sleeping in his crate.

• 🛏️ During his first three nights, he whined and slept in his foster mom’s bed for comfort. By night four, he was happily sleeping in his crate without any problems!

🚗 Car Rides

• 🚙 Toby enjoys going for car rides and would love to accompany his person on little adventures!
