This sweet 4-year-old Dachshund may be a little shy at first, but once he gets to know you, he’s a lovable snuggle bug who wants nothing more than to be by your side. Whether it’s cruising in the car, taking a leisurely walk, or cuddling under the covers, Willie is ready to be your faithful companion! 💙

🐕 Making Furry Friends

• 🐾 Small Dogs: Willie likes other dogs! He’s a little shy when first meeting them but gradually warms up.

• 🐕 Big Dogs: Not a fan of larger dogs.

• 🐱 Cats: Unknown.

• 👧 Children: Older, respectful children should be fine. Because Willie startles easily, a home without young children is recommended.

🦮 Walks & Outdoor Adventures

Willie absolutely LOVES his walks! He’s good on a leash, although he’s still overcoming a little nervousness from a leash that once snapped underneath him.

And watch out, squirrels and geckos! 🐿️🦎 Willie has his eye on you! This little guy loves a good chase and would be thrilled to have a yard where he could run after squirrels and play with his balls.

🏡 House Training & Crate Time

• 🚽 House Training: Willie is basically housetrained and does well with a consistent potty routine. He was recently neutered, and his foster hopes this will help eliminate any remaining accidents.

• 🏠 Crate Training: Willie does well in his crate when his foster leaves. He settles in without much fuss, but he’s definitely ready to come out when his people return!

• 💕 Home Alone: Willie hasn’t shown much separation anxiety. His foster occasionally leaves him loose in the house for short outings without issues.

🛏️ Snuggles & Sweet Dreams

Forget the dog bed — Willie wants the BIG bed! ❤️

He absolutely loves sleeping with his humans, especially when he can burrow under the covers and snuggle up close. His foster helps him on and off the bed to keep him safe.

🍖 Food, Toys & Treats

Willie doesn’t show food or toy aggression.

Interestingly, food isn’t a big motivator for this little guy. He’s not particularly interested in treats, so patience, praise, and affection may be better ways to win his heart.

He does enjoy playing with his balls, especially if there’s a yard to explore!

He’s a wonderful little traveling companion, and his foster keeps him safely secured with a dog seatbelt. Whether you’re heading out for an adventure or just running errands, Willie would love to ride along!

Willie is a shy, sensitive little soul who needs some time to feel comfortable around new people.

He’s not the type to rush over and greet everyone immediately. However, when visitors come in and sit quietly near his foster, Willie will eventually approach them on his own.

Once he trusts you, his sweet and affectionate personality really shines!

🔔 Barking & Anxiety

Willie is not an excessive barker. He may announce a delivery, someone at the door, or even the neighbor’s door closing, but he’s generally a quiet little gentleman.

He hasn’t displayed significant separation anxiety and does well with his familiar routine.
