Roxy is a 7-year-old, 18-lb. dachshund looking for a forever home where she can be someone’s favorite girl. ❤️ Once Roxy decides you’re her person, she wants to be wherever you are—following at your heels, gazing into your eyes, cuddling close, and making sure she doesn’t miss a thing!

💕 A PEOPLE-LOVING GIRL

Roxy LOVES her people and wants to be the center of their world! She follows her foster around everywhere—even weaving between their feet—and is happiest when her person is nearby.

Because she craves companionship and attention, Roxy may be especially happy with a retiree, someone who works from home, or a family with a stay-at-home spouse. She can handle her foster leaving for errands, dinner, etc., but she definitely prefers having her humans nearby.

🐶 OTHER DOGS

Roxy does fine passing other small dogs while out in public and is currently fostered with two small dogs. She gets along “okay” with them, but she can be possessive of her people, food, and toys.

If another dog receives attention, Roxy wants to join in—and preferably take over! If another dog tries to play with a toy, she may growl or bark at them. At mealtime, she eats quickly and may try to investigate another dog’s bowl when she finishes.

For these reasons, Roxy would probably be happiest as the only dog in her forever home, where she can soak up all the love and attention herself. 👑❤️

🦮 LEASHES, WALKS & OUTDOOR FUN

Roxy is okay on a leash in certain situations. She has gone to the park on leash and done well, but traditional neighborhood leash walks aren’t really her favorite activity. She may bite at the lead, resist following, and doesn’t always want to stay where she’s supposed to.

Her foster lives near a large open field, and Roxy absolutely loves following her people around and exploring with them. She enjoys being active outdoors and running around at the park.

🚽 HOUSE-TRAINING PROGRESS

Roxy is not fully house trained yet, but her foster continues to work with her. She needs frequent trips outside and does best when kept on a consistent schedule.

She may have a couple of accidents a day if she isn’t taken out often enough. Roxy usually sleeps through the entire night, but when she wakes around 6:00–6:30 a.m., she needs to go outside immediately. Her foster picks her up and carries her outside because otherwise she may have an accident on the way to the door.

With patience, consistency, and a good routine, Roxy can continue making progress. 🐾

🛏️ CRATE & HOME LIFE

Roxy’s foster does not currently use a crate with her. When they initially tried confining her to a smaller area of the house, she became distressed and repeatedly found her way out. Her foster believes she may have some anxiety related to being confined or left behind.

At bedtime, however, Roxy settles nicely in her dog bed and sleeps well throughout the night. 💤

❤️ SEPARATION & BARKING

Roxy is truly a little shadow. She wants her people close, but she can manage when her foster goes shopping, out to dinner, or runs errands.

She does bark when first left home and may take some time to settle herself. Her barking is generally situational rather than constant. She may also bark when:

• Someone approaches the house
• The other dogs start barking
• She’s waiting for breakfast in the morning
• She’s excited about something happening around her

And yes—she’s a dachshund, so she definitely has opinions! 😂

⛈️ THE THUNDER CHASER

Roxy isn’t frightened by thunder or loud noises. In fact, she does something pretty funny when storms roll through—she tries to find the thunder! ⚡😂

When she hears a boom, she’ll run around the patio looking for where that mysterious noise came from.

🍗 FOOD & TOYS

Roxy can be possessive around food, toys, and her favorite people, so this is something her new family will need to manage appropriately.

And here’s an important Roxy rule:

This girl is a professional scavenger! If Roxy finds something edible within reach, she’s probably going to consider it fair game. 😂

🌸 ROXY’S PERFECT HOME

Roxy’s dream is pretty simple: she wants a person of her very own.

A home where someone is around much of the time and where Roxy can be the center of attention would be ideal. She would likely thrive as an only dog, especially with someone who enjoys having a devoted little companion following them from room to room.

She’ll need a family willing to continue working patiently on house training, understand her separation anxiety, and help her learn that she doesn’t have to guard all the toys, food, and attention.

In return, Roxy will give you plenty of companionship, cuddles, early-morning playtime, park adventures, endless dachshund personality—and a little shadow who thinks being next to you is the best place in the world. 🥰
