Adoptable Dachshund Buster (26-127) – No Longer Taking Applications

🐾 Meet Buster – The Sweetest Little Sidekick You’ll Ever Find! 🐾

If there was one word to describe Buster, it would be easy. This handsome 2-year-old, 13-pound Dachshund is the kind of dog who quickly steals your heart with his gentle personality, intelligence, and endless affection. He’s happiest when he’s by your side—whether that’s enjoying a walk, cuddling on the couch, or keeping watch for squirrels in the backyard.

❤️ Buster at a Glance

🐶 Age: 2 years old
⚖️ Weight: 13 lbs.
🐾 Breed: Dachshund

🐕 Dog Friendly

Buster enjoys the company of other dogs. He’s calm and happy around them, although he’ll occasionally bark if another dog starts barking first. He also does well with large dogs, taking his time to approach them politely before making friends. He currently lives peacefully with his 10-year-old Chiweenie foster sibling.

🐱 Cats

Buster has met one cat. During their first meeting he barked, but on later introductions he became more curious than concerned, preferring to watch and observe. His compatibility with cats is still considered unknown.

👧 Children

Buster’s current foster has not observed him with children, but his previous home included a 5-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy.

🚶 Walks & Adventures

Buster absolutely loves going for walks and makes a wonderful walking companion. He walks nicely on leash, although squirrels are his weakness! If he spots one, expect him to pull in excitement. He also loves spending time outdoors and would thrive with a securely fenced yard, where he can safely indulge his favorite pastime of squirrel watching.

🏡 House Manners

Buster is house trained and has excellent manners around the home. His foster doesn’t currently use a crate, so crate training is unknown. He happily sleeps in his own dog bed but would much prefer snuggling up in bed with his favorite person.

🍖 Food & Toys

Buster has shown no food or toy aggression.

🚗 Car Rides

Car rides aren’t his favorite. He may cry a little during the trip but settles with reassurance.

🤝 Meeting New Friends

Buster is a social little guy who enjoys meeting both new people and other dogs. His friendly personality makes him an easy companion wherever he goes.

💕 Personality

Buster is incredibly sweet, very smart, and clearly has had some training. He learns commands quickly and genuinely wants to please his people. He’s affectionate, loves to cuddle, and always wants to be close to the ones he loves. He enjoys chasing tennis balls (and is still perfecting the “bring it back” part!) and can often be found sitting patiently beneath a tree, hoping a squirrel might make an appearance.

When he first arrived in foster care, Buster experienced a little separation anxiety and barked or howled when left alone during his first week and a half. Thankfully, that has resolved nicely. Now he simply greets his people at the door with happy cries and a wagging tail.
