🐕 Social Butterfly

Oscar gets along wonderfully with other small dogs. He has been respectful of his 17-year-old foster brother’s boundaries, even showing interest in gentle play without being pushy. He enjoys meeting new dogs and people alike—his biggest motivation is simply getting attention! If another dog lets him know he’s being a little too friendly, Oscar immediately backs off and respects their space.

Because he adores people so much, he’d do best with older children who understand how to respectfully interact with dogs.

🚶 Walks & Adventures

Oscar is a dream on a leash. He walks politely without pulling and absolutely loves spending time outdoors. He enjoys leisurely strolls but would likely be happy joining you for longer walks if you’re up for the adventure. He’s easy to handle and makes every walk enjoyable.

🏡 Home Life

Oscar is completely house trained and has never had an accident in his foster home. He can comfortably hold it for longer periods when needed.

While he isn’t fully crate trained, he happily relaxes in his crate as long as the door stays open. With patience, positive reinforcement, and a slow introduction, he could likely become comfortable with a closed crate over time.

Bedtime is one of Oscar’s favorite routines. He proudly goes to his dog bed on command each night and stays there until morning—as long as his bed is in the same room as his favorite person.

🍖 Manners

Oscar has excellent manners around food and toys. He shows no food or toy aggression toward people or other dogs, making him an easy addition to a multi-dog household.

🚗 Out & About

Oscar tolerates car rides, though he may whine a bit due to insecurity. He’s happiest knowing his people are nearby.

❤️ A True Velcro Dog

Oscar’s biggest challenge—and also one of his sweetest qualities—is his separation anxiety. He truly loves his people and wants to be close to them. He may whine when you leave, bark if he sees or hears you outside without being able to reach you, and happily follow you from room to room.

The good news is that Oscar is not destructive. He simply craves companionship. Clear routines, gentle boundaries, and consistency help him settle nicely. He would thrive in a home where someone is home most of the time. A friendly canine companion and a fenced yard for exploring and occasional play would also be wonderful for him.

Oscar also has a mild fear of thunderstorms and loud noises, but he typically fusses briefly before settling back down.
