Ginny – February 10, 2020

Ginny has a delightful personality that will melt your heart! She is a real love who has blossomed under good care. She came to us from a shelter and was malnourished, suffering from chronic flea condition that made her lose a good portion of her fur. Ginny had double ear infections and huge bladder stones that made her incontinent and painful to urinate. She was suffering. Although plagued with all these conditions, Ginny has been a sweet and happy pup. She loves to eat and has now gained a healthy 6 pounds which puts her at 25lbs. Her coat is doing much better and the bladder stones have been removed and has proved that she is fully potty trained and learned to use a doggy door to go outside. She must be kept on a prescription diet to lower the chances of getting stones again. Her ears must also be cleaned weekly to avoid infections. Ginny is great with dogs, cats and people in general, she can be timid when she meets new people but warms up after she knows she is safe. You can often find her snuggled up to her dog buddies! Additionally, this sweet girl would do best in a home with company (either multiple people or pets) because she can suffer from some separation anxiety when left alone, but she is getting better! Ginny gets startled by cars when on walks, but with patience and practice we are sure she will improve. She makes progress regularly!

Ginny has tons of love to give, she can be funny, playful with her people and dogs and melt your heart with her personality.

Stormy – February 8, 2020

***PENDING ADOPTION***

Stormy is a 9 pound, extremely handsome, 3 year old, male dachshund. He is a beautiful blue/grey color with brown markings. Stormy is very energetic, and loves to play with other dogs . . . although, he’s not so fond of cats.

He needs to go to a home without cats or children and can sometimes be aggressive with his favorite toy or bone, but he is learning his manners.

Stormy is a loving dog who enjoys sitting on your lap, giving kisses. He will burrow down under a blanket and sleep soundly. Beware if you have a blanket on the floor, you might just find a dog in it!

He is enjoying sleeping in the bed with his foster family, but he is also crate trained.

Stormy is recovering from a luxating patella surgery. He was lame when he came to Low Rider, and is now recovering nicely! The surgeon says it might be a full six months for him to stop limping completely, but he is doing well.

He is completely house trained, and likes using a doggie door. He’s been learning to walk on the leash and is progressing daily.

Stormy is a beautiful, smart, and healthy – young male who is ready to find his forever family!

Onyx – January 31, 2020

***PENDING ADOPTION***

Meet Onyx, 7 yo long haired male. This tiny guy at 10lbs has a big personality. He is so playful and loving you’ll never have a second of boredom. He loves being close to his person all the time, so close you may have a doxie for a scarf or around your neck while sleeping.

BUT he needs someone that is going to be his alpha and and help with his manners. He is good with cats but can be a tad rude with other dogs, so you being the boss will be key OR he needs to be the only dog.

He needs someone with a fenced in yard.  If walking on a leash his anxiety gets the best of him and he continually barks and pulls and forgets to empty his bladder completely resulting in accidents in the home. ALL this can be corrected with LOTS of love, patience, and training.

This little guy is also an awesome road buddy, is is always up for a car ride and is a great lap driver.  He does have allergies that if not kept medicated he developed respiratory or ear infections quickly.

Pebbles – January 12, 2020

***PENDING ADOPTION***

Pebbles is 11 years old and the sweetest most laid back dog you could ever meet.  Nothing phases her.

Pebbles is extremely affectionate and wants nothing more than to lay with you and enjoy being cuddled.  She gets on well with other dogs, cats and children.

Unfortunately she is blind, but that does not stop her from getting around using her other senses.  She needs drops in her eyes four times a day so needs to be in a home that has the ability to be able to administer them.

Pebbles is overweight but we are working on that, and otherwise she is healthy.  Pebbles is just looking for someone to love her and be her forever home.  She came from a breeder and is just looking for a quiet life.

Bella – December 29, 2019

***PENDING ADOPTION***

Meet Bella. She is a mostly black, black and tan senior girl 14 years old and weighs about 12 pounds. Bella is very quiet and reserved but very loving girl. She rarely barks and loves to sit next to you on the couch, content to be petted as much as you are willing to give her. She does well in her crate and sleeps all night without incident. Around 6:30 AM she will give one bark to let you know it is time to get up and take her outside. Bella is about 80% house trained and does best on a schedule, however a home with a yard/doggie door might offer more flexibility. Bella gets along with other dogs and cats. Kids are unknown however with her very quiet and sedate  nature active children would not be recommended. She walks very well on the leash and seems to enjoy her time outside. Bella is slightly hard of hearing but does hear and respond.

Lily – October 27, 2019

Meet Lily, she is a 2-year-old chiweenie and has the cutest smile I’ve ever seen on a pup. She loves to play and be the center of your attention. Lily is good at potty training but isn’t completely there yet. She is great with other dogs and with cats, but sometimes likes to chase cats and play. She is crate trained and can sleep in it overnight with no problems if needed, but would also do great in your bed with a little patience.  Lily also does well with children 10 or older, unsure about under 10. She is such a precious puppy and will make an awesome addition to any home.

Dinghy – October 27, 2019

Dinghy is a sweet, fun-loving young boy that does not know he is different from other dogs.  He has his whole life ahead of him and he’s hoping you are the one to see how special he can make your lives together.

Companionship is #1 with him.  Human companionship.  He does love to play with other dogs but when it comes to attention from you, he will push to be first in line.  He is looking for someone that is home most of the time so his special needs can be met and the two of you can have so much fun together.

Dinghy’s back was injured and now he cannot use his back legs to walk.  He also is incontinent of urine and bowels.  However, he is not all that difficult to care for if you get into a routine and he has so much love to return for your efforts.  He needs to wear a diaper for management of bowel movements that he does not have control over and his bladder needs to be expressed as well (otherwise, when it is full, it will slowly leak out).  The bladder expression is VERY easy to do.  (I had never done it before and I just squeezed his belly and that was all it took.)  He uses a “drag bag” to move around when he is not in a wheeled cart.  This bag protects his legs from rubbing on the floor as he moves.  He can use a wheeled cart and it will come with him when he is adopted.  It is enjoyable to go for walks using the cart and easy to put him into it.

It sounds like a lot and for some maybe it is but he gives back so much in return and is a constant companion.  Dinghy’s foster mom is available to answer any questions and tell you so much more about his bright, bubbly personality.  If you would like to know more about him, please email lowriderrescue.org and put Dinghy in the subject and his foster mom will get back with you.  If he is not the right fit for you, please spread the word about this sweet boy as we feel strongly someone out there needs him as much as he needs them.
