Adoptable Dachshund Willie is the perfect quintessential doxie! At 3 years old, and 11 pounds, he’s a lovable bundle of joy. He’s still young enough that he needs plenty of playtime and exercise.
Willie is searching for a home where he has a family to play with. We believe Willie would enjoy any child who has been taught to be appropriate with animals no matter the child’s age. He enjoys other dogs and plays well with others. He’s always happy to meet new people! It is unknown as to how he would react to cats, but he is good natured and smart enough to learn to treat them with respect.
Playing outdoors and going for walks are two of his favorite things! He walks very well on the leash and obeys commands without wandering too far while in the yard. Of course, close supervision is always important.
As a smart pup who wants to please, potty training has not been an issue for Willie. It has not been necessary to use a crate and we would not want to see him having to use one unnecessarily.
He does not show signs of anxiety and barks only when appropriate. Although he would prefer to go everywhere with you, he does calm down after you leave and is excited to see you when you get home. He’s good in the car and enjoys outings.
When you head to bed, he heads for the door, goes out to potty and right back in. He then heads to his bed to sleep all night long until YOU get HIM up. He will make you smile several times a day. We think Willie is the perfect dachshund!
In our care he has received: Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Major Surgery – IVDD, Heart Worm testing and medication.
Willie underwent back surgery in order to walk again. It was a terrific success and he is walking and running without issue. It is important that he not be allowed up on furniture or beds without close supervision. An injury to his spine could easily result in a big setback. He is now fully recovered.

Willie is the dog that is everything you’ve dreamed of and more. He is healthy, happy, housetrained, friendly, and well-behaved. He comes when you call him, loves to play but also loves to sit on your lap and just hang out. He is very good with all people and every dog he has come across so far. He’s simply the best, easy to love and ready to have fun with his people.
Willie deserves everything he is dreaming of therefore we will be searching for a forever home for him that: Has a fenced in yard for him to run and play in. He would like another dog to play with, a family with enough time to spend enjoying him and vice versa. He would like to go places in the car with his people, as he is VERY appropriate in public. *Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
