There is some evidence of abuse or fear of children and/or a male in his past. He required additional time to trust new people. His insecurity manifests itself in excessive barking and chasing. Even after three weeks living in the household with his foster parents, he still barks when dad enters the home. It will take understanding, training, and patience to help him through this emotional reaction.

When meeting new people, he barks loudly and sounds mean. Oscar Meyer The 3rd calms down and does no harm if you pick him up and place him in their arms. Although he’s walking well on a leash, he wants to chase and bark after people and bikes. More training is needed to teach him these important skills.

He behaves perfectly well for his foster mom, but it took longer than usual for him to adjust to the change and to establish real trust. Oscar is so very worth the effort!

The ideal home will have a fenced-in yard and an experienced dog owner who is home most of the time or retired and ready to show him lots of love and attention.
