Adoptable dachshund Chuck greets new people with tail a waggin’ and even offers kisses. Chuck is a very friendly, 5-year-old, dachshund who continues to be on a weight loss journey.
He is small-standard in stature so he is bigger boned and someone “loved” him with food to the point he weighed 36 pounds and his tummy almost dragged the ground. He now weighs about 27 pounds and is still getting healthy!
Because of his relationship with food, he is VERY food aggressive. If food is dropped, he will initiate conflict to “win” the food. Otherwise, he enjoys other dogs and does perfectly well socializing when food isn’t involved.
He loves to go for walks and needs to do so for continued weight loss. He is happy to sleep either with you in the big bed or in a dog bed. Chuch is a friendly and affectionate guy!
He had a dental in which he lost all but a few of his teeth because they were so bad but he still has no problem eating – even dry kibble. He is on a strict diet and is only allowed green beans for treats (but that’s ok, he LOVES them).

Chuck is a sweet dog who is terrific company. He wants to please you and has a mild-mannered personality. Even when other dogs are barking, he is not quick to join in. He’ll need a parent who will make good food and exercise choices on his behalf. He will make someone a wonderful pet.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
