Requesting Prayers & Love for “Little Goose” - Requesting Prayers & Love for “Little Goose” - he is neurodivergent but at 4 weeks, is determined to live. You see, the breeder wasn’t caring for him because they weren’t going to make money off him. (Never mind the breeding practices that lead to these issues) At 2 weeks, he was 10 oz. The breeder brought him to Port Saint John Veterinary Hospital to have him put down . . . But the vet refused. He’s now being fostered by one of their technicians and the vet checks him daily. He’s putting on weight and LOVES to eat! Little Goose will be doing therapy and will be loved and cared for until more information on his prognosis is gained. He didn’t have any chance at all, now, the hope and goal is that he will live a happy life. He may never be a “normal dog” but this beautiful boy can still have a wonderful life. Please do not apply to adopt him at this time. We are thankful for the kind hearted staff at Port St John Veterinary Hospital and for the support from all of you. We’ll keep you posted. Earlier this year, dear Smooch was adopted to his Earlier this year, dear Smooch was adopted to his forever home. His Happy Tails post was overlooked (all volunteers working hard daily) but we have an updated report - Smooch is settled in and doing great. His daddy loves him very much! Happy Tails buddy!!!

Late in the afternoon, we put out a plea for funds because we cannot stand the idea of turning dogs away. YOU KEEP COMING THROUGH so that we continue to have foster families and funds available. At this moment, we have surpassed our first goal of $9000! THANK YOU! For those who give, for those who share, for those who drive dogs, love them, and help save them!!! While reaching this goal is FABULOUS, the vet bills won't stop coming. Our overhead is very low (a few software necessities, website hosting, and unavoidable things) and everything else is used to directly pay for vet bills! Unfortunately, without your help, we will have to begin doing just that. bit.ly/LRfunds An average spay or neuter in Florida costs between $150- $350, Vet exams range from $65 - $100, Vaccines range between $20 - $100 depending on what is needed. A healthy dog usually costs more in vet expenses than our adoption fees cover. This doesn't include medications, the life-saving and altering surgeries, or emergency care we provide on a regular basis. If you can help us refill our coffers, please do! Judy has been with us for a couple of years now, volunteering her time to help save the dogs which mean so much to her (“honorable mention” to her husband Ronnie) Her sense of humor and willingness to help is always uplifting!
