Adoptable Mix Axel – Adopted

Adoptable Mix Axel is a sweet cuddle bug. What he lacks in vision and hearing, he makes up for in companionship. He’s looking for someone who needs him as much as he needs them!

Adoptable Mix Axel

Axel is naturally a little timid around people and other dogs with his blindness and hearing issues. He startles easily. Axel needs soothing frequently – he also “cries” in his sleep. Axel experienced a lot of trauma after being trapped in a storm drain, prior to rescue. Sometimes he just sits and cries, or loudly yelps in his sleep for long periods.

Adoptable Dachshund Axel doesn’t walk well on a leash but enjoys riding in a dog stroller or being carried in a sling. He would benefit from sniffing around in the yard, supervised. Once he feels the grass, he will do his duty. Axel does tend to mark indoors, but he’s fine with wearing a belly band. As long as he goes outside regularly, there shouldn’t be any issues.

Adoptable Mix Axel

Axel will sleep on car rides. He uses a pack & play as his main home and is comfortable there. His foster lets him fall asleep in the big bed, then moves him to the pack & play. Axel would not fight over food or toys.

Adoptable Mix Axel had his Senior Vet Check, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection).

His foster mom dresses him up in cute onesies that also seem to comfort him. He will fall asleep in your lap and stay content for a long time. He loves specialty food and has finally put on some weight.

Adoptable Mix Axel

Axel looks like a little lamb with his soft, curly coat and long legs. He’s developed a fondness for a spoonful of peanut butter, and loves to sniff in the yard and smell the breeze.

He needs someone who is around most of the time and/or will take him with them. He’s a little like taking care of a baby. His ideal home is with someone who understand that he needs little joys in life in the form of special treats, comfort time, lots of cuddles and love, frequent visits to the yard, special stuffed animals, stroller time in the sunshine, and other ideas – to make up for the things he cannot enjoy as a normal dog would.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
