Female Dachshund Coco – Adopted

Female Dachshund Coco is a senior beauty of 13 years who needs a loving home. Coco is the ultimate companion. She had an owner she adored who passed away and she is anxious to be someone’s whole world!

She loves nothing better than to be where you are and just “hang out”. We know she is 13 because she belonged to one person until they passed BUT she acts like she is about 7 and is in good health.

The only issue with her is that she is still somewhat overweight. She’s working on it though! She was very obese and has lost some weight already but she must be kept on diet food (which she loves) until she loses more weight.

Staying Healthy and Active

Coco LOVES to go for a walk on a leash but also uses a doggie door and is also house trained. Someone looking for a sweet companion who also enjoys going for walks would make a terrific match. Because she is older, we are careful about how far she walks. On longer walks, it would be wise to have a stroller handy but this is something that Coco really enjoys!

While in our care she received a full Vet Check, Dental Exam, Nails Trimmed, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal) and again ,was deemed in good health.

It’s unknown how she would do with big dogs or cats. She would do best in a home with children who know the appropriate way to handle dogs. She does well with kids over 12 and adults and barks appropriately without excess.

Coco likes other dogs but mostly she just “tolerates” them. She does not want interaction in any way but nor does she cause any big problems. If other dogs get too close to her she snaps but not to bite them, just to let them know she wants her space. If other dogs don’t get in her space, she doesn’t mind them at all. It’s likely that she would be food aggressive if they got near her food. Otherwise, if they don’t bother her, she won’t bother them.

She will definitely want to sleep in bed with her human. She prefers the couch during the day over dog beds. Though she’s good on car rides and enjoys them, she sometimes tries to jump out when the door is opened – as we know, this can be harmful to dachshunds and should be avoided.

Although she doesn’t show signs of anxiety, she does like to be with her people enough that she’s always looking for them. Coco seems to like all people and anyone who will spend time with her and give her attention, she is all theirs.

Coco is a “people person” who would be best as an only dog. This “young at heart” girl is looking for a walking companion she can count on to be her person. She’s a loyal friend who deserves to have her own loving home. Do you have room in your heart and home for Coco?
