Adoptable Mix Oreo is 1 year old and 21 pounds. Oreo is a shy, gentle sweetheart who just wants a patient family to love him. Once he trusts you, he turns into the cutest cuddle bug who gives kisses, plays with toys, and sleeps right by your side. He LOVES other dogs – especially big dogs – and his confidence shines when he has a canine buddy.
He’s still learning about the world and needs a calm, understanding adopter who will go slow and help him continue to grow. Oreo loves working for treats and is already learning commands like sit, stay, and down.
🐾 Oreo’s Highlights
– Dog-friendly: Yes! He plays well with small & big dogs. Big dogs are his BFFs.
– Kid-friendly: Best with kids 12+ due to his timid nature.
– Cat-friendly: Unknown.
– House-trained: Yes! Uses wee-wee pads and also goes outside in the backyard.
– Crate-trained: Yes! Goes in with a treat and sometimes naps in there on his own.
– Sleep habits: Loves his dog bed, crate with the door open, or sleeping with his foster.
– No food or toy aggression.
– Not a big barker: Only barks at new people arriving or noises outside.
– No separation anxiety: He’s just happy when you get home.
– Training: Knows “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “night night.” Loves working for treats!
🌱 Things He’s Still Learning
– Meeting new people/dogs: He’s shy and nervous at first but warms up with time.
– Leash & walks: Still scared of the harness, so he’s practicing slow introductions.
– Car rides: More comfortable when another dog rides along.
– Loud noises/thunder: He hides under the bed or table until the noise passes.
– General confidence: He’s timid initially but becomes playful and silly once comfortable.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Oreo has received a vet check, vaccines, nail trimming, is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been neutered.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
