Adoptable Dachshund Scamp is 8 months and 9 pounds. If you had met Scamp just a few weeks ago, you would have seen a tiny pup who wasn’t sure the world had a place for him. Loud sounds made him freeze. A leash felt like a scary mystery. New people? Too much. But then something beautiful happened. His foster family simply sat with him. No rush. No pressure. Just quiet belonging. And in that calm space, Scamp started to bloom.
Today, Scamp goes absolutely wild with joy when the grandkids come over. He’s playful, goofy, and especially loves the big dogs in his foster home. He’s blossoming into the kind of little buddy who follows the fun and melts into your lap when he’s tired.
He’s still young – only 8–12 months – which means he’s learning all the basics in real time. Potty training, leash confidence, crate skills… all still in progress. But he’s trying so hard, and he’s already made incredible gains in just a couple of weeks.
Scamp’s Forever Home Checklist ✅:
– A home with another friendly dog for companionship
– A home with a secured fenced in yard since the leash is still new to him

What Scamp Loves:
– Other dogs, big dogs especially
– Kids of all ages
– Playing, zooming, and being part of the action
– Car rides (he crates great in the car!)
– Sleeping quietly through the night as long as he has a friend
What Scamp is Still Learning:
– Leash walking (improving but still timid)
– House training, he is doing well but needs consistency
– Crate training, he prefers an X-pen with a dog buddy
– Building confidence — and he’s coming out of his shell FAST
No aggression, no reactivity, just a sweet, soft little soul who needs someone to see his potential and keep lifting him up.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Scamp has received a vet check, vaccines, and nail trimming. Scamp is on monthly heartworm medication and has been neutered.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
