Adoptable Dachshund Trixie is a 6-pound pocket-sized Dachshund with the speed of FloJo and the curiosity of a toddler in a Tupperware cabinet.
No more applications – Adopted
She’s 2 years old, silly, playful, sensitive… and absolutely devoted once she decides you’re her person.
Trixie is one of the dogs from the Jacksonville 28. Trixie needs a very specific kind of home and we want to make sure we set her up for the safest, happiest future possible.
STOP HERE – we know Trixie is VERY cute but please read through her entire forever home requirements BEFORE applying.
Trixie’s Forever Home Requirements✅:
✔ A fenced in yard, she is a fast runner. She isn’t leash-ready yet, and walks are overwhelming for her.
✔ Adults only: children or older adults may have trouble catching her.
✔ Someone dog-experienced, patient, and gentle. Trixie needs someone who understands fear-based behaviors and is willing to build trust slowly.
✔ Another friendly small dog. She blossoms around other animals and feels most comfortable with them.
✔ Ideally someone who works from home. She thrives with routine and companionship.
✔ A home without big dogs or cats.

Trixie’s Personality
Trixie is shy, timid, and cautious when it comes to humans. She’ll happily be the reigning champion of “Wrestle Mania” with other small dogs, but people? She needs time.
Trixie will:
• Run away when you try to pick her up
• Hide under beds or sofas
• Try to nip when she’s scared or grabbed unexpectedly
• Watch you lovingly from across the room… just out of reach
• Follow you everywhere once she trusts you
Her foster carries her in a little satchel every day to build trust and it’s working beautifully. But earning her heart? That’s the part that will require patience, experience, and a gentle, dog-savvy adopter.
What does Trixie enjoy?
Trixie is used to being around other small dogs so she loves companionship. She didn’t have exposure to playtime before coming to Low Rider so she is learning how to play with toys, chase balls and like to explore every nook and cranny.
Despite her timid start, Trixie has zero separation anxiety, no thunder or noise fear, no excessive barking, and no food or toy aggression. She is also great in the car, good with potty pads and using the doggie door.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Trixie has received a vet check, vaccines, a dental exam, and nail trimming. Trixie is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been spayed.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Adoptable Dachshund Trixie – 2 years old, 6 pounds

She has so much love to give… she just needs someone who understands that the best relationships take time. Adoption Fee: $350
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
