Meet Adoptable Mix Gus – a 5-year-old, 11-pound pup who looks like a Miniature Pinscher mix and has the sweetest, most gentle personality. This remarkable little guy is the perfect combination of calm companion and playful friend.
Gus came to us for a hoarding situation so he can be a bit timid when he first meets new people, but once he warms up, he’s incredibly friendly and loves being part of the action. He enjoys spending time with his humans – whether that’s sharing lap time on the couch or tagging along for adventures.
He gets along well with other dogs and seems comfortable around both small and big pups. We haven’t seen him with cats yet, so we’re not sure how he would do with them.
When Gus first joined Low Rider, it seemed like he may have never been on a leash before, but he learned quickly and now does great on walks. He absolutely loves going on walks, riding in the golf cart, and visiting the dog park to play with his friends.
Gus is also a very well-mannered house guest:

Fully house trained – he goes to the door when he needs to go out

Crate trained – sleeps in his crate all night

Quiet – you’ll hardly hear him bark

No food or toy aggression – he’ll often sit and patiently wait for his meals

No separation anxiety – he’s comfortable being left alone
During storms, Gus prefers the safety of his crate, which seems to be his cozy little safe space.
Gus is also a quick learner and is already working on sitting before meals. He’s the kind of dog who really wants to please his people.
This sweet boy loves snuggling on the couch and sharing lap time with his humans. His foster family says he’s such a joy that they will truly miss him – but they know the lucky family who adopts him will gain an incredible companion.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Gus has received a vet check, vaccines, a dental exam, medication (temporary – like for acute infection), nail trimming, and is on monthly heartworm preventatives. Gus has also been neutered.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
