Adoptable Mix Gingersnaps (Pending Adoption, please do not apply!)

Meet Adoptable Mix Gingersnap! She is a 1-year-old mixed-breed sweetheart weighing about 15.5 pounds, and she’s as loving as her name is cute!

This little survivor was found in the middle of a storm with a cut paw pad and scrapes on her snout, but despite her rough start, she has proven to be incredibly resilient, affectionate, and full of life.

Ginger is a playful and active girl who absolutely loves other dogs. She plays well with her foster dog sibling and has done great at the dog park, happily socializing with dogs of all sizes – including big dogs. She also does wonderfully with children and especially enjoyed playing with her foster’s 4-year-old granddaughter.

This sweet girl loves her walks and prances proudly with her head and tail held high. She’s good on a leash, though she’s recently discovered the excitement of pulling a bit when she’s eager to explore. After a walk or playtime, she turns into a total cuddle bug. If you sit down, chances are you’ll soon have Gingersnap curled up in your lap. She also loves sleeping in bed with her foster and stays snuggled up all night.

Gingersnap is crate trained and stays dry in her crate overnight when taken out before bedtime. She is still working on house training, so her new family should plan to take her out every 2–3 hours as she continues to learn. With consistency and patience, she should keep improving.

She’s not destructive but does have a playful habit of carrying shoes or tossing slippers in the air for fun. She has no food or toy aggression and is a healthy eater who enjoys a mix of soft and dry food.

Ginger can be a little slow to warm up to new people – especially men – but she builds trust with a little patience and quickly shows her affectionate side. She greets children easily and does great meeting new dogs. When she’s feeling a little anxious, she’ll gently lick for reassurance and enjoys being petted.

A couple small quirks about this adorable girl:

  • She can get car sick, so it’s best not to feed her before car rides and to keep towels handy.
  • She isn’t afraid of thunder or loud noises and only barks occasionally when someone walks by the house.

Gingersnap is truly a loving, affectionate companion looking for a home filled with attention, cuddles, and adventures. She’s playful, sweet, and happiest when she’s near her people.

Vetting and Medical

In our care, Gingersnaps has received a vet check, vaccines, a dental exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), nail trimming, flea treatment, and is on monthly heartworm medication. Gingersnaps has also been spayed.

Her kidney levels were elevated during her heartworm treatment but went back to normal before she was spayed. Because of this past elevation, her vet has recommended monitoring her kidney function with quarterly checks as a precaution, though there are currently no issues.

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
