Meet Adoptable Mix Murphy – Don’t let this little guy’s age fool you…Murphy is the youngest 14-year-old pup you’ll ever meet! This adorable 8-pound yorkie schnauser mix still has plenty of pep in his step and keeps up with his 6-year-old foster sister every day.
Murphy came into rescue after his owner passed away. He was in terrible condition, sleeping outside and with a mouth full of rotten teeth. Murphy is now looking for a new family to love and cherish him for the rest of his golden years.
💙 Murphy’s Personality
Murphy is a happy, confident little dog who loves people and enjoys being the center of attention. He’s not shy at all – in fact, he’s usually the first one in line to greet new friends! He loves scratches, cuddles, and being near his humans.
Murphy is a bit of a homebody. He feels happiest in the comfort of his home and yard rather than going on long adventures. A short walk is fine, but he’d much rather do his business in the yard and head back inside to relax.
His Favorite Things
Murphy loves cozy blankets and can usually be found curled up on the couch or snuggled in his crate with soft blankets. His crate is his safe space, and he happily naps there when his foster family isn’t home. He also enjoys afternoon or evening car rides, where he’ll curl up in a blanket and relax.
🐕 Other Pets
Murphy enjoys meeting other dogs and gets excited about making new friends. Because he can be a little enthusiastic, slow introductions are best.
He prefers having his own space when it comes to food and water, as he doesn’t like sharing those with other dogs. Murphy can also get a bit protective if another dog approaches while he’s cuddling with his human on the couch or floor.
We are unsure how Murphy does with cats or large dogs, as he hasn’t been around them in rescue.
👨👩👧 Kids
Murphy does well with respectful children and has been wonderful with his foster family’s 9-year-old. He would do best with kids who understand how to be gentle with small dogs.
🚶 Training & Routine
Murphy has made great progress on leash walking and now walks nicely! He is also working very hard on house training and improving every day. His new family will just need to keep him on a consistent routine so he can continue to succeed.
🏡 Murphy’s Perfect Home
Murphy would thrive in a home where he can enjoy a calm, cozy lifestyle with lots of love, attention, and soft blankets. He’s independent enough to relax when left alone, but he absolutely adores being near his people.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Murphy has received a vet check, vaccines, a dental exam, nail trimming, major dental work and has been neutered.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
