Meet adoptable mix Frito, who is 9 years old and 12 pounds.
Some dogs bounce into your life. Frito leans in gently… and then never leaves your side again.
This sweet poodle-doxie mix is the definition of a devoted companion. He isn’t flashy. He isn’t wild. He isn’t chasing tennis balls across the yard. He’s watching you. Following you. Waiting for his turn to curl up beside you in the big bed. And yes – he is absolutely a bed hog.
💛 Why Frito’s is with Low Rider
Frito’s world changed because his person is moving and can’t take him along. It’s a heartbreaking goodbye rooted in love and now we get to be the bridge to his next chapter.

🐶 The Good Stuff (And There’s a Lot of It)
Frito is what we lovingly call a “low-rider shadow dog.”
-
✔️ House trained – stands by the door when he needs to go out
-
✔️ Walks beautifully on leash and gets SO excited when the harness comes out
-
✔️ Loves long sniff breaks and neighborhood strolls
-
✔️ Car ride enthusiast
-
✔️ Non-shedding (bonus!)
-
✔️ No food or toy aggression
-
✔️ Doesn’t care much for toys – he prefers people
-
✔️ Groomed 1–2 times a year for hygiene
-
✔️ On monthly Sentinel for heartworm and flea prevention

His favorite activities?
-
Watching out the window to “protect” the house
-
Alerting you to the doorbell (you’ll never miss it again 😉)
-
Head scratches – and he’ll gently paw your leg if you stop
-
Sleeping pressed against your side at night
He is a professional snuggler and takes his job very seriously.

A Sensitive Soul
Frito is a little shy at first. He’ll take a moment to assess new people… and then, within an hour, he’ll likely be in their lap.
He does show signs of anxiety:
-
Follows his person from room to room
-
Can bark when left alone (though it has improved)
-
Not a fan of storms
-
Barks at dogs through the window or when they cross “his” yard
On walks, he’s not very interested in other dogs – just the occasional yard patrol commentary.
He may do best in a home that:
-
Isn’t gone for long workdays
-
Understands clingy = loving
-
Can provide reassurance during storms
-
Appreciates a dog who wants to be their shadow
We’re not sure how he is with cats or children.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Frito has received a vet check, vaccines, and for seizure treatment.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Adoptable Mix Frito – 9 years old, 12 pounds
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
