Adoptable Dachshund Tommy Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Tommy is a 12 year old, 12 pound dachshund who likes other dogs. As a matter of fact, he gets along with good dogs, no matter the size! It’s not known how he feels about cats.

Adoptable Dachshund Tommy

Tommy is pretty fearless and wags his tail and greets appropriately. He likes to play the bitey-face game with his foster sibling, a mini dachshund. Tommy is completely housebroken and has been crate trained. He is generally a good little guy but he is also a fast one. It is hard to believe he is 12 years old. He can zip around the house or yard at the same pace as his foster’s 2 year old doxie.

Adoptable Dachshund Tommy

Adoptable Dachshund Tommy does fine with kids 12 and over, but unsure of how he does with the younger children. Since he is a small senior doxie, it would be important to supervise them closely.

Tommy loves to get out and walk around the neighborhood and meet everyone. He is confident and easy paced on a leash. He makes friends everywhere. Tommy is crated at night because he started off trying to mark in the house. He’s had almost no problems since he was neutered. He is fully potty-trained. Tommy also sleeps in a dog bed very well.

Adoptable Dachshund Tommy

Adoptable Dachshund Tommy has shown no signs of food or toy aggression, his foster mom is always careful when feeding the dogs. It’s always best NOT to touch food bowls and to wait until a dog has walked away during dinner time and let the dogs eat.

Adoptable Dachshund Tommy – 12 years – 12 lbs

Tommy had his Senior Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Medication (permanent – like for seizure treatment), Spay or Neuter, Minor Surgery (such as removal of benign cyst), Skin treatments/ infections, Nail Trim, Heart Worm testing and medication, Major Dental (cleaning and removal).

He would be an excellent companion for a senior who wants a walking buddy to motivate them to exercise and also a cuddle buddy for the couch.

He is only 12 lbs, does not need any grooming and has very little shedding. Perfect in communities that restrict breeds and sizes!

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
