Adoptable Dachshund Sven – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Sven

Adoptable Dachshund Sven is celebrating his birthday this week! At just three years old, this boy is playful and has a lot of energy and love to give. If you’re looking to adopt a rescue with a high energy level, Sven is for you. Sven enjoys going for walks, playing fetch with some toys and perhaps what he loves most is – food!

Adoptable dachshund Sven likes other dogs. He wants to play with his foster siblings and tries to get them to chase him. He tends to bark at bigger dogs, but once he knows it’s fine, will relax.

Young children are probably not a good fit. He would do fine with older children. Sven is good on the leash. He loves to go for walks and goes pretty fast, not a lot of sniffing and stopping.

Per his former owner, he hated the crate. His foster put him in an open pen with her dogs outside on Halloween and he barked like crazy. She had to put him back inside the house.

Sven uses a dog bed. He’ll indicate that he wants to get in the bed, but his foster hasn’t allowed him do that in case the new owner doesn’t like it. He’s fine sleeping in his bed next to the side of her bed.

He’s a bit food aggressive. His foster throws veggies to the dogs when cutting them up for dinner and he gets a little aggressive with that.

He’s only been in the car when being picked up and going to and from the vet. He was fine both times. He likes car rides.

Sven is friendly when meeting new dogs or people. He may bark at the dogs at first, but quickly calms down. Sometimes he can be a little bit shy or timid. His only signs of anxiety is that he can be nervous about going out in the fosters backyard. He doesn’t like it when his foster leaves him behind, but exhibits no destructive behavior.

Adoptable Dachshund Sven – 3 years 11 pounds

Adoptable Dachshund Sven just turned 3 (DOB 11/13/19). He is fully of energy, but loves to cuddle also. He loves walks, playing fetch, and food! He goes crazy at mealtime. He likes vegetable snacks and other treats but is the perfect weight. He’s still working on getting used to going outside off leash. He’s a little nervous about it because he lived in an apartment. He likes to be the center of attention so I think he’d be okay as an only dog. He likes to play with the other dogs in the foster home, though too.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
