Adoptable Dachshund Simba is 10 months and 11 pounds. He is a happy, loving, and energetic pup who’s ready to find his forever home! This little guy is full of life – he loves playing with other dogs, zooming around the yard, and going for walks. He’d be happiest in a home with another young, playful pup to match his energy.
Simba’s exposure to big dogs has been minimal, but he gets along great with the large dog in his foster home. He hasn’t been tested with cats.
Personality & Training:
Simba is a confident, social pup who loves meeting new people and soaking up attention. He’s not shy or timid, doesn’t bark excessively, and isn’t fazed by thunder or loud noises. He’s crate-trained, mostly potty-trained (just the occasional overnight accident), and walks beautifully on leash. He enjoys car rides – especially with the wind in his face!
A Note on His Boundaries:
Simba has shown some resource guarding behavior with high-value items like special toys or treats – he may show his teeth if someone tries to take them away. Because of this, we recommend a home without young children. Older kids (12+) who can understand boundaries would be a great fit. His adopters should be patient and consistent in continuing to work with him on this behavior.
Health & Special Considerations:
Simba has a history of focal seizures as a young puppy but has been seizure-free for months while in rescue care. He’s not currently on any medication. He also needs to be pre-treated with a Benadryl shot before vaccinations due to past vaccine reactions.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Simba has received vet checks, vaccines, dental example, and a nail trimming. He is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been neutered.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
