Adoptable Dachshund Goofy is 2 years old and weighs 20 pounds. Goofy lives up to his name, he is funny, expressive, and full of personality! He’s the ultimate cuddle bug couch potato who loves people, belly rubs, and making his foster family laugh with his endless grumbles and funny “dog talk.”
Goofy does well with other small dogs, though he’s not always in the mood to play. He’d do best with another pup that can respect his boundaries and understand dog cues. He hasn’t been tested with large dogs, but he’d likely do fine with calm, non-reactive ones. Goofy hasn’t met cats in his foster home, though he’s shown some interest in the neighborhood cats – nothing unmanageable, and he’s easily redirected.

Goofy’s Forever Home Checklist ✅:
Goofy would thrive with a moderately active family that:
-
Encourages him to walk daily (even when he’s being lazy 😄)
-
Understands his vocal personality and finds it endearing, not annoying
-
Has another small, respectful dog companion (optional, but ideal)
-
Is home often to give him plenty of love and attention
**Goofy has some allergies and requires food for sensitive skin (not prescription). We also give him skin supplements to help with this. He would probably benefit from other allergy medications like Cytopoint or Zyrtec.
👧 Kids: Goofy has done great meeting a neighbor’s child on walks, but due to his resource guarding around food, he won’t be placed in a home with children.
🚶♂️ Walks: Goofy is 100% house trained and walks nicely on leash, though he must sniff every mailbox, stop sign, and trash bin along the way (it’s part of his charm!). He’s strong and can pull when he catches an interesting scent. While he enjoys the outing once he’s on a walk, he tries to avoid the leash at first — he’s a bit lazy and prefers lounging on the couch! He’s slightly overweight, so his ideal family will keep him on a consistent walk schedule to help him stay healthy.
🦴 Food Behavior: Goofy has some food resource guarding toward humans (not dogs). He’ll snarl or grumble if he doesn’t get the snack he wants — but this is easily managed by sending him to his bed during meal prep or eating time. He’ll fuss on the way but will go and stay put. His ideal family will be patient, confident, and consistent with boundaries. He’s eager to please and responds well to structure.

🏡 At Home:
-
100% house trained ✅
-
Crate trained and sleeps soundly through the night in his crate 💤
-
Uses a dog bed and doesn’t sleep in the human bed
-
No separation anxiety
-
Not afraid of loud noises or thunder
🚗 Goofy rides well in the car and enjoys tagging along wherever you go. He barks at new people but quickly rolls over for belly rubs – the fastest way to his heart!
🔊 Personality: Goofy is very vocal — the most talkative dog his foster has ever met! He barks, whines, and grumbles to express himself, whether he’s asking for cuddles, food, or playtime. His ideal home would be one without shared walls (apartments or condos may not be the best fit).

Vetting and Medical
In our care, Goofy has received vet checks, vaccines, dental exam, nail trimming, and is on monthly heartworm preventatives.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
