Adoptable Dachshund Roy is 10 years old and 20 pounds. He is ready to settle into a cozy retirement home where he can enjoy the finer things in life: soft blankets, sunny naps, and a human to call his own. Don’t let his age fool you though – this handsome senior still loves to play fetch and destuff toys with enthusiasm!
Roy is living with several other dogs and gets along well, especially with smaller pups he can play with. Larger dogs are hit or miss, he may bark or nip. He’s not a fan of cats (he’ll bark and chase, though he means no harm), and due to his age, we don’t recommend a home with young kids. Roy can get cranky if moved when he’s not ready and will give a little warning nip.
Important: Because Roy has a history of biting and nipping, he will need a patient owner who understands dogs behavior and will be respectful of his boundaries.

He’s great on a leash and enjoys short walks where he can sniff around and soak up the outdoors. He’s also a loyal little shadow – he’ll happily follow you around, even to the bathroom! Roy loves burrowing under blankets with you, enjoys car rides (especially sniffing the air), and is friendly when meeting new people – though he’ll bark at first like a true dachshund guard dog.
He’s not house trained but will use a pee pad and occasionally marks. He has no food or toy aggression toward people, though he may give a small warning growl about his food around other dogs. The good news? No separation anxiety here – just a charming, confident, opinionated doxie looking for his person.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Roy has received a vet check and vaccines.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Adoptable Dachshund Roy – 10 years old, 20 pounds
If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, slightly grumpy old man to share your life (and your blankets) with, Roy is your guy. Adoption Fee: $250.
If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.
*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
