Adoptable Dachshund Mitzi is 9 year old and 26 pounds.
Mitzi is a gentle, affectionate soul with impeccable manners and a heart full of loyalty. Once she forms a bond, she’ll be your devoted shadow. She will be content spending her days by your side, whether you’re working, relaxing, or napping together.
Mitzi’s Forever Home Checklist ✅:
– A home where she can be let out for potty breaks pretty frequently
– A family who will help her stay active (vet recommends she loses 10 pounds)
– A home where she can sleep with her people during the night

Mitzi is wonderful with children and cats, and though her current foster doesn’t have dogs, her previous owner had several, and Mitzi got along beautifully with them. She’s also great on a leash and enjoys short walks. Mitzi’s new parent(s) will need to keep her active as she is trying to lose 10 pounds per her vet’s recommendation.
She rides nicely in the car (a little panting, but nothing excessive), and she loves meeting new people on walks. She’s all tail wags and wiggles with every new friend she meets.

During her stay with her foster, Mitzi has been fully house-trained with zero accidents. She does best with frequent potty breaks and loves being part of the daily routine. She’s also crate trained and will willingly go in when asked, though she prefers sleeping close to her human. She might softly grumble for a few minutes at bedtime but quickly settles down for the night and she’s an amazing little snuggle buddy once she’s in bed.
Mitzi doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body. She’s incredibly sweet and calm, though she can get a bit anxious when left alone, which shows up as mild barking or panting. For her safety, her foster keeps her crated when leaving the house, as she might try to climb on furniture while waiting for her person to return.
