Adoptable Dachshund Mix Troy is a 5-year-old, 12-pound Chi/Rat Terrier mix who is ready to find his forever family. This little guy may be a bit shy at first, but once he feels safe, he’s all about cuddles, kisses, and hanging out by your side. He loves sitting on the couch with you and will even bring you his squeaky toy when he’s ready to play.
About Troy:

Great with small dogs (he’s used to being an only dog but does fine with calm companions)

Did well with a toddler in his previous home

Good on a leash and enjoys walks

House-trained (still learning the doggie door!)

Crate-trained and sleeps well through the night

Prefers to sleep with his human and loves snuggling in bed

Not a big barker – sometimes alerts, sometimes quiet

Still learning car rides (they make him a little nervous)

A bit skittish with new people or loud noises, but very sweet once he warms up
Why you’ll love him: Once he feels at home, Troy is affectionate, loyal, and oh-so-loving. He’ll be your little shadow, ready for couch snuggles, playtime, and lots of kisses.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Troy has received a vet check. Troy came to the rescue with a Prozac prescription, since joining the rescue, he hasn’t needed them so the vet let us know he doesn’t need to take it regularly.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Troy is looking for a calm, patient family who can give him the love and security he craves. He’d do best in a home where someone is around often and can give him the time he needs to adjust. A fenced yard would be wonderful, but he’s also great on walks. Adoption fee: $250

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
