Adoptable Dachshund Mix Penny – ADOPTED

Adoptable Dachshund Mix Penny – A Sweet Soul Looking for Her Perfect Match.

Penny is a 1-year-old, 9-pound chihuahua mix with a big personality packed into a little body. Though she’s small in size, her story shows incredible resilience. We believe Penny may have had a tough start in life, possibly as a stray or in an abusive situation, and because of that, she can be nervous in new environments and with new people.

My Forever Home Checklist ✅:

  • A male adopter is preferred, Penny especially adores men and has developed a strong bond with her foster dad
  • No other pets in the home
  • No children in the home, fast movements and noise can make her anxious
  • An experienced dog owner who is confident with behavior adjustment training

When she feels unsure, Penny sometimes shows her fear through defensive behaviors like barking or growling. But underneath that tough exterior is a pup who desperately wants love and security. With the right guidance, Penny has so much potential to blossom.

What Penny Loves

  • Her people: Penny especially adores men and has developed a strong bond with her foster dad. She shines brightest when she feels safe and connected.

  • Playtime: Toys are Penny’s favorite! She loves to pick out her favorites from her basket and enjoys a good game, on her terms.

  • Learning: This smart girl is already crate trained, potty trained, knows her name, and is picking up on basic commands. She’s eager to keep learning with positive reinforcement.

  • Walks: Penny has come a long way on leash training. She does best on quieter walks where she can explore without feeling overwhelmed.

The Best Home for Penny

Penny needs a calm, structured environment with someone who understands that trust takes time. She will thrive with:

  • A male adopter (preferred) who can continue her progress and be her anchor

  • An experienced dog owner who is confident with behavior adjustment training

  • A pet-free home where she can be the center of attention

  • No children, since fast movements and noise can make her anxious

  • Someone patient, consistent, and willing to let Penny set the pace as she learns to feel safe

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
