Adoptable Dachshund Dotson – ADOPTED

Adoptable Dachshund Dotson is a 10-year-old, 15-pound dachshund with a heart full of love and a gentle spirit. This sweet boy has so much to give and is looking for a forever home where he can spend his golden years being cherished.

Dotson is an easy companion—he’s house trained, walks well on a leash (he must use a harness), and absolutely loves his strolls in the park. At home, he enjoys free roam of the house and happily sleeps on his dog bed in the bedroom, though he prefers to be close by and always touching his person. He’s very affectionate and loves to cuddle, often following his foster around just to be near.

Some of his favorite things include car rides (he’ll eagerly try to jump in when he hears “let’s go!”), tasty snacks like chicken, cheese, watermelon, blueberries, and peanut butter hip & joint treats, and snuggling up next to the people he loves. He also uses doggie stairs so he can safely hop up and down when he’s feeling playful.

Dotson has shown that he can be a little anxious when left alone, and he does bark if left for too long, so he would do best in a home where his people are around most of the time. He’s friendly when meeting new people, though he may bark at first before quickly settling down. He gets along well with smaller dogs and hides from bigger dogs. He does not get along with cats and we are unsure how he would interact with children.

This sweet boy is not aggressive at all and has a calm, gentle demeanor. He wasn’t bothered by thunder and has adjusted well in his foster home, quickly forming a strong bond.

Dotson is the kind of dog who gives all of his heart—he’ll make you feel like the most important person in the world just by the way he wants to be near you.

Vetting and Medical

In our care, Dotson has received a vet check, dental example, Vet Check, Dental Exam, medication (temporary – like for acute infection), heartworm testing and medication, flea treatment and a nail trimming. Dotson is on prescription low fat food for pancreatitis which his forever family will need to continue to give him.

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
