Adoptable Dachshund Mix Teddy, we think he looks just like a teddy bear so his name is perfect for him! 🐻
Teddy may be small in size, but his heart is enormous. This 2-year-old, 11-pound Dachshund mix has overcome a rough start in life and is now ready to find the loving forever family he’s always deserved.
Teddy came from a hoarding situation, where he didn’t get the chance to learn what it meant to be a beloved pet. But since joining his foster home, he’s blossomed into a happy, affectionate, and incredibly sweet boy who just wants to be close to his people.

Teddy’s Forever Home Checklist ✅:
- Teddy would thrive in a home where someone is home most of the day or where he has another friendly dog to keep him company. Since he spent his early years surrounded by dogs, having a canine friend helps him feel safe and confident.
- He’d love a family with children who want to play and include him in their fun. Whether your lifestyle involves frequent visitors, travel, or cozy nights at home, Teddy will happily adapt, as long as he’s surrounded by love.
Personality 🐻
Teddy is playful, gentle, and wonderfully kind-hearted. He loves other dogs and enjoys engaging them in play. If a dog doesn’t want to play, Teddy respectfully backs off and gives them space. He’s only been around small dogs so far, but he’s done great with all of them so we think he would get along well with big dogs.
He hasn’t met any cats yet, but his foster mom believes he’d likely treat them like little dogs since he doesn’t have a strong prey drive.
When it comes to people, Teddy adores them once he gets to know you. Because of his background, he can be shy at first, especially if there aren’t other dogs around to show him that people are safe. But with a little patience, he’ll be cuddled up next to you in no time. Once he feels comfortable, Teddy transforms into a total lovebug who enjoys snuggles, belly rubs, and playtime.
He’s also good with kids who know how to be gentle and respectful. He loves to play with both people and dogs, so a home with children who enjoy fetch, tug-of-war, or just running around the yard would make him one very happy pup.

Leash & Training Progress 🚶🏻♀️
Teddy is still learning how to walk on a leash because he was never taught before joining the rescue. His foster mom can put on his harness and leash, but once outside, he tends to stick close and doesn’t want to go far. He’s still figuring out what walks are all about, but he’s curious and wants to please. With consistent training and reassurance, he’ll learn to love his outdoor adventures.
He’s partially house-trained and has made great progress in his foster home. He uses a dog door to go outside with the other dogs and has learned to follow their lead. He’s very smart, treat-motivated, and eager to please. With a little consistency and patience, he’ll have this down in no time!
He tolerates a crate but doesn’t love being in one. The good news? He hasn’t been destructive in any way and prefers to relax on his dog bed or near his people. Once fully house-trained, he shouldn’t need to be crated at all.
Health Notes 💛
Teddy has a small surface corneal injury in his right eye. It doesn’t cause him pain or affect his vision, and he doesn’t require any medication for it.
When he first arrived, his coat was sparse due to flea dermatitis and poor nutrition, but after some medicated baths and healthy food, his fur grew back beautifully. He still has a few thin spots on the back of his legs, likely from sitting in a crate for long periods, but it doesn’t bother him at all.

Vetting and Medical
In our care, Teddy has received a vet Check, vaccines, medication (temporary – like for acute infection), a nail trimming, and is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been neutered.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
