Adoptable Dachshund Mix Javier is looking for a calm, classy companion who’ appreciates snuggling and stealing hearts.
Javier is a gentle 16-year-old, 16.2 pound, dachshund mix who is wise but has the soul of a puppy. With his sweet face, soulful eyes, and signature red bowtie, Javier is the epitome of senior charm.
Don’t let his age fool you…this distinguished gentleman still enjoys his daily walks and can handle stairs like a pro! He’s excellent on a leash, fully house-trained, and will let you know when he needs to go out (with an adorable little whimper). Javier sleeps peacefully through the night in his own bed and is an all-around polite house guest.

🚶♂️ Great on walks: Keeps pace beautifully and loves his strolls.
🏡 House-trained: Cries or whimpers to tell you when he needs to go out.
😴 Sleep routine: Snoozes happily in his own bed at night.
🐶 Other dogs: Prefers to be the only pup — he’ll bark at other dogs but doesn’t attack.
🐱 Cats/Kids: Unknown, as he hasn’t been tested with them.
🚗 Car rides: Make him a little anxious, but he’s working on it.
🍽️ No food or toy aggression.
🔊 Noise level: Surprisingly quiet, barks only once in a while.
🦷 Health: Recently had dental surgery (10/1) and is doing great! He’s on gabapentin and in excellent health for his age.
Javier loves meeting new people — though he prefers to be the first one to say hello! Once he warms up, you’ll see just how loving and gentle he is. When he’s not out exploring, he enjoys watching TV and snoozing by your side, perfectly content just being near his favorite human.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Javier has received a vet check, vaccines, dental exam and dental surgery, nail trimming and is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been neutered.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
