Adoptable Dachshund Mix Bailey may be a senior by age, but don’t let that fool you—this boy has the heart and energy of a pup! He’s playful, affectionate, and loves being part of the action, whether it’s going for walks, light runs, or curling up for a good nap. Bailey has separation anxiety and would do best with someone that is home often and does not have shared walls with others.

About Bailey:
-
Dog-friendly: Bailey loves other dogs! He’s playful, warm, and social, though he may bark if another pup gets a little too intense. He’s met big dogs and done just fine.
-
Kid status: He does well with older children, but we’re not sure about little ones yet.
-
Walks: When the leash comes out, Bailey gets wiggly with excitement! He pulls a bit at first and likes to mark, but after a few minutes, he settles in and walks beautifully.
-
Car rides: Expect excitement at first, then relaxation. He’ll happily curl up in the passenger’s lap or stretch out for the ride.
-
Smart & food motivated: Bailey knows how to sit and wait patiently for his meals until given the “okay!” command.

At Home:
Bailey has made great progress since arriving in foster care. He was anxious at first, but with patience and routine, he’s become more relaxed and confident. He’s not a fan of the crate but does great with his bed (or at the foot of yours!) and sleeps through the night like a champ. He loves naps, cuddles, and being close to his people.
A Sensitive Soul:
Bailey shows some signs of anxiety—like tucking his tail during thunderstorms or barking when first left alone—but with consistency and training, he’s made incredible improvements. He’ll thrive in a home where he has love, reassurance, and stability.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Bailey has received a vet check, dental exam, a nail trimming, is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been neutered. He is on medication for hook worm and will finish his last round on Friday, September 19. Bailey has a history of pancreatitis but has not shown any signs or symptoms of pancreatitis since being with the rescue.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
