Adoptable Dachshund Maxwell – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Maxwell came to Low Rider with his dad, Peanut. They are buddies, however, not bonded. Maxwell needs a home with someone who is retired, works from home and/or does not work. He is a lap dog and loves the attention.

Adoptable Dachshund Maxwell

He’s a smart boy who learns fast; and really wants to please his person. Maxwell is a sweet, loving boy and with him you will have your very best friend forever! If your home is open for two dogs, then Maxwell and his dad, Peanut, would complete your family.

Since in our care, Max received a Vet Check, Spay or Neuter, Nails Trimmed, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication.

Maxwell barks when he is left behind, but does settle down. He does have some separation anxiety, but doesn’t bark excessively. He doesn’t show any other signs of anxiety, other than wanting to be with his person!

A little bit shy, Max is cautious and wants to make sure you like him before he opens up. Even so, he is friendly with new people once he makes friends. Again, when meeting new dogs, he’s friendly, reserved and shy, but good once he knows they are ‘ok’.

He does not sleep with his foster mom since his dad also there, he would love it though as he enjoys sitting in bed watching TV, right on top of his foster mom. He sleeps well in his own dog bed and sleeps in a crate at night.

Maxwell has been recently neutered, and since that time, has not had accidents in the house like he did the first two weeks. He’s a good boy, house-trained, enjoys walks and does well on the leash.

Maxwell Personality

Although he doesn’t initiate play time with his foster siblings, he does play with them when they want him to. He most definitely enjoys the company of other dogs.

He is scared of his neighbor’s cat. It’s likely he would be fine with one after he got use to them. We don’t know how he does with children or big dogs as he has not been around them during his stay at the foster home. It’s likely that as long as they are not aggressive, he would adjust.

Adoptable Dachshund Maxwell

Maxwell is a sweetheart and a young dog who needs a bit of reassurance when getting to know you or other dogs, but once he’s been made to feel at home is a joy to be around. If you’re retired or work from home, he could be the one for you! If you’re looking for two dogs, he is close to (but not a bonded pair with) his dad, Peanut.
