Adoptable Dachshund Madchen – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Madchen is 12 1/2 years old and weighs 15 lbs. She is a lively, smart, cheerful little lady who is looking for a loving forever home where she can be someone’s constant companion. She is the definition of a “Velcro dog” — happiest when she’s right beside her person, following them from room to room and sharing every part of the day together.

This sweet senior girl has been dearly loved her entire life with her previous owner, who is now 103 years old and living in a nursing home. Madchen is adjusting beautifully and is ready to bond deeply with her next special person.

🌸 Personality

  • Friendly, social, and loves meeting new people
  • Gets along wonderfully with other dogs
  • Currently living peacefully with 5 other dogs
  • Has done beautifully with large German Shepherds
  • Loves walks, car rides, sniffing adventures, and garden time
  • Quiet most of the time, but will alert bark if someone comes to the door or if she wants attention
  • Loves being close to her people at all times

Madchen would absolutely love a home with:

  • A large, safe fenced yard to explore
  • Another friendly dog companion
  • Someone home often who enjoys having a constant little shadow nearby

🐾 House & Crate Training

Madchen is mostly house trained. Due to Cushing’s Disease, she does need to urinate more frequently than normal and may occasionally have accidents indoors. She does very well wearing a diaper and has never defecated in the house.

She is crate trained, though she may bark or holler initially when crated or left in another room due to some separation anxiety. Once everyone leaves, she settles down and sleeps comfortably. She can also sleep happily in a dog bed but previously slept with her owner.

🦴 Other Notes

  • Enjoys chewies and may guard them a bit, but trades easily for something even better
  • Not tested with cats or children
  • Loves companionship and thrives around people

🩺 Veterinary Care Completed

Madchen has received:

  • Vet Check
  • Vaccines
  • Dental Exam
  • Flea Treatments
  • Heartworm testing & prevention
  • Ongoing medication management for seizures and Cushing’s Disease

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
