Dachshund Heidi – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Heidi is an adorable 10-year-young Dachshund weighing just 9 pounds – a tiny girl with a big heart and so much love to give.

Heidi’s Forever Home Checklist ✅:
– A home where her family will let her snuggle under the covers
– A family who is home the majority of the time (she has separation anxiety)
– A cat-free home
– Ideally a home with a pal for Heidi!

Heidi is a gentle, affectionate soul who absolutely loves her people. She’s a little shy at first, but once she feels safe, she becomes a true cuddle bug who loves sleeping under the covers with her humans and will happily snooze through the night by your side. During the day, she enjoys her dog bed and being close to her pack.

She does well with other dogs and enjoys being part of the group, though because of her small size she can be timid around big dogs at first. She is friendly with new dogs and people, warms up nicely, and has a sweet, loving personality. Heidi does not like cats, and we don’t yet know how she does with children.

Heidi loves her walks and walks very well on a leash. She’s house trained and is great at communicating when she needs to go out – she’ll gently whine to let you know it’s potty time. She’s also crate trained and will stay in her crate when her humans leave the house, though at night she strongly prefers to sleep with her people.

This little lady does have separation anxiety and would do best in a home with someone who is retired or works from home, as being left alone can be scary for her. She can also get anxious in the car and may associate car rides with abandonment, so a patient, understanding adopter is key. Heidi is food aggressive, but not with toys.

The good news? Heidi is not bothered by thunder or loud noises, doesn’t bark excessively, and is incredibly loving and loyal once she bonds with you.

Vetting and Medical

In our care, Heidi has received a vet check, vaccines, dental exam, heartworm testing and is on monthly heartworm preventatives.

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
