Adoptable Dachshund Dolly is a 2-year-old, 10-pound dachshund with a heart full of love and a whole lot of personality. She came to us as one of the Jacksonville 28, and she’s blossomed into a sweet, sassy, and affectionate little girl.
Dolly is friendly and confident, not shy or timid at all. She loves meeting new people – everyone at the vet’s office adored her and commented on how sweet and well-behaved she was. She also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. She’s used to being around multiple dogs and would do great with a canine companion, though she may also be fine as an only dog if she isn’t left alone for long periods.
Dolly’s Forever Home Checklist ✅:
✔️ Has a securely fenced yard
✔️Is patient with leash training and jumping
✔️Offers companionship (human and/or canine)
✔️Appreciates a dog who is both loving and a little sassy

This cuddle bug loves affection, gives lots of kisses, and will happily curl up on the couch or chair with you. At night, Dolly prefers to sleep in the big bed, where she’ll burrow under the covers and stay cozy all night long. She uses a dog bed during the day and is crate trained, though she doesn’t love being crated for long periods when her people are home.
Dolly is house trained and uses the dog door, but will also politely wait by the back door when needed. She has no food or toy aggression and will even wait in another room while her food is prepared. She enjoys toys and may even hoard a few – especially if there’s a squeaker involved!
Because Dolly came from a breeder situation, she was never leash trained, so walks are a work in progress. She’s comfortable wearing a harness and is currently learning how to walk on a leash, but she’ll need a patient adopter willing to continue her training. A fenced-in yard would be ideal for her, as that’s what she’s used to. She’s also a very talented jumper, so secure fencing is important.
She does well in the car, isn’t bothered by loud noises or thunderstorms, and shows no signs of anxiety. She is a moderate barker, and while separation anxiety is unclear (there are other dogs in her foster home), she does seem to enjoy companionship.
One last fun quirk: if you leave your shoes out, Dolly will steal them – not to chew, just to take them to her bed for safekeeping. Shoes of all kinds are fair game 👟😂.

Vetting and Medical
In our care, Dolly has received a vet check, vaccines, dental email, nail trimming, and had a dental procedure. She is on monthly heartworm preventatives and has been spayed.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
