Adoptable Dachshund Bodie – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Bodie

Adoptable Dachshund Bodie is a very sweet, calm, loving dog. He loves attention and cuddling, especially after supper.  Bodie is very smart because he knows what time of the day he gets to go to his favorite place, the dog park.  He sniffs around, socializes with other dogs, and gets all the barking out of his system!

His friendliness with other dogs (he’s mostly comfortable with small dogs) is quite remarkable because in two separate instances he was attacked by other dogs. The first time his tail was bitten and it is now shorter. The second time, a part of one ear was bitten off. Despite these traumatic injuries, he remains a sweet and playful little dog who enjoys socializing!

Bodie has cataracts which makes seeing difficult at night. During the day he follows his foster mom from room to room and lies down until she leaves.  He loves dogs as long as they are not aggressive.  Bodie will growl when eating if another dog approaches, but he doesn’t mind if his humans take his food bowl away.

Adoptable Dachshund Bodie

Adoptable Dachshund Bodie is fine with children 6 and up providing they are gentle and don’t pester him.  He rarely plays with toys.  Bodie likes to go for walks and does not pull on the leash. He likes to greet all people and dogs on our walks.  He will potty inside in the middle of the night unless he is crated. Recently, he’s been using a belly belt at night and this has helped.

Adoptable Dachshund Bodie -17? years young – 14 lbs

Although his reported age is 17, you wouldn’t believe it, we are not convinced and neither is the vet. Bodie does plenty of walking and even running around. He’s in terrific shape for a senior dog.

Bodie sometimes scratches the floor as if digging a hole— mostly at night or when it is raining or thundering. He will either crawl under something, go into a small space or curl up with his human.

Adoptable Dachshund Bodie

Adoptable Dachshund Bodie had his Senior Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Spay or Neuter, Nail Trim, Flea Treatments, Heart Worm testing and medication.

Bodie is ready for his forever home! Ideally, he’d choose a home where a person or couple is home regularly. He enjoys a yard, but is also good on walks. He’d love to have a dog park or friendly dogs nearby to play with. Although, he doesn’t mind being an only dog at home, he would be ok with a dog or two, as long as they are not aggressive. He’s a little guy after all!

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
