Adoptable Mix Poppy – Adopted

Adoptable mix Poppy is a loving and sweet little pup who has been through a lot and revels in the love and affection she receives when she’s in the right home. Poppy is blind but finds her way around very well. She adores the attention but does not show signs of separation anxiety. She’s an easy dog to love!

When Poppy was first picked up she was in bad shape and much pain and discomfort.

This little one came to us with a whole laundry list of ailments. Poppy had a skin infection and yeast infection also, she had to be shaved down and had barely any fur. Her fur is now growing back beautifully. She also had an eye infection and has dry eye which will need artificial tears for the rest of her life, not daily though, and these are very inexpensive.

Poppy has a bad back and could barely walk when got her, the great news there is that with medical attention and a lot of TLC by her dedicated foster mom, she is doing amazing and walking around just fine! She may need pain meds on and off on an as needed basis, but they do not pose a considerable cost.

She is not shy or timid and does not bark excessively. When she met her pack of foster siblings, she was friendly and acclimated to the group right away.

Poppy is not spayed and because of her back it has been decided that it would NOT be in her best interest to put her through the surgery. The great news is her teeth are great!

Adoptable Mix Poppy

This is an easy going pup who understands when she is being cared for. Poppy is happy to sleep in her bed in the room with you or on the big bed with you. She likes car rides just fine and is simply happy to be with you. She shows no signs of food or toy aggression.

A crate hasn’t been needed with Poppy. She likes the attention of her people and is searching for someone who wants to be with her as much as she wants to be with them. If you are busy she will just go and lay in her bed until she snuggle back on your lap.

Regular potty breaks for her are a must. She’s learning quickly to go outside, but doesn’t know to alert you. By taking frequent breaks outside, she understands that is the right time to go. We expect that this trend will continue as long as her people help her with it. As Poppy is blind she needs some direction or more like makes her own direction! She finds her way (but should never be left alone outside) and is also good on a leash. Poppy enjoys taking walks on the leash.

Little Poppy is fine with big dogs, as long as they are gentle. Small children could pose a danger to her, but older children are fine. She takes no issue with cats and couldn’t catch them if she tried!

Poppy is happy to be around my pack, being blind though sometimes she has a little growl if caught off guard. Poppy can send out some mixed signals sometime she will wag her tail and growl at the same time, this does confuse some of my more intellectually challenged dogs lol. I think Poppy would benefit from a hole with a quieter older pack or just being the only pup.

Adoptable Mix Poppy – 9 years – 11 pounds

Poppy is a sweet little girl who loves to snuggle with you as much as possible. She enjoys her food and gets so excited to be with you. The minute you sit down, this little pup knows and will do anything to get into your lap! Poppy loves nothing more than a warm blanket and a loving lap to sit in. If it’s a snuggle bug and a full-time friend and family member you are searching for, she could be your girl!
