Adoptable Dachshund Mix Bambi – is 2 years old and weighs just 7 pounds, but don’t let her size fool you—she has a big heart! Bambi arrived at the rescue with a badly broken leg, but after lots of love and care, she has fully healed and is ready to find her forever family. Because she’s so tiny (and her breed is prone to injury), she’ll need a family who can help keep her safe from big jumps off beds or couches.

💛 Dog Social Butterfly
Bambi, also known as Bam Bam,  absolutely LOVES other dogs—big, small, playful, or laid-back. She almost always curls up in a dog bed with her foster siblings after a fun play session, and she has liked every dog she’s met.

👧 Kid-Friendly
Bambi has met kids only a handful of times, but she handled each interaction wonderfully.

🚶‍♀️ Great on Leash
Bambi enjoys her daily walks and is a polite, easy walker. She also loves a good trot around the fenced backyard. However, as long as she gets plenty of walks and exercise, a fenced yard isn’t a must.

🏠 Home Habits

• Crate-trained & comfortable being crated

• Minimal accidents when kept on a schedule (currently goes out every 2–3 hours)

• Sleeps in her crate or happily in the big bed (and she’d love to be a permanent bedtime snuggler!)

• No separation anxiety—she’s fine being left alone and has never shown destructive behavior

• Rarely barks—just a morning “good day” or when joining the pack’s excitement

🚗 Adventure Buddy
Bambi is a wonderful passenger and loves car rides!

💖 Personality
Bambi is friendly, confident, and loves meeting new people and dogs. She’s affectionate without being clingy, playful without being hyper, and a perfect balance of fun and calm.

Vetting and Medical

In our care, Bambi has received a vet check, vaccines, a dental exam, medication (temporary – like for acute infection), a major surgery (for her broken leg), nails trimming, heart worm testing and preventives and was spayed. 

We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
