Adoptable Dachshund Shelby – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Shelby

Adoptable Dachshund Shelby is a senior looking for her retirement home. This girl is fourteen years old (you wouldn’t know it) and thirteen pounds of love. Foster mom describes her as, “a little sweetie pie. She is well mannered and smart.”

Shelby is house-trained and does well if she is let outside often. Sometimes it takes some encouragement to stay outdoors and go potty – silly dachshund! Shelby knows how to walk on leash and will trot along when she feels like it, usually shorter walks are her jam.

One of Shelby’s best traits is that she is well behaved meeting new people. She has a warm and friendly disposition. This sweetheart loves to sit with you and cuddle! We can imagine that she would do well in social settings being introduced to your family and friends or in the public.

Shelby gets along well with her 11-pound foster sibling; however, it is unknown how she behaves around larger dogs, cats and small children. This girl is crate trained if needed and travels in a car quietly. Believe it or not, this dachshund doesn’t bark much and does well when left home alone.

This sweetie does have a heart murmur and a small lump on one leg which the vet says to just watch. Shelby’s been fully vetted, microchipped and ready to go home to her forever family.

If you are looking for a sweetheart cuddle bug, and adore senior dachshunds like we do, Shelby will make a wonderful companion.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
