Meet Adoptable Dachshund Max, this 4-year-old dachshund with a heart of gold is ready to find his forever home! Weighing in at 17 pounds, Max is the perfect mix of playful companion and full-time cuddle bug.
Max absolutely loves other dogs and is always ready to turn a new friend into a playmate. While he hasn’t met larger dogs yet, he’s confident and may think he’s the boss (typical dachshund energy 😉). He’s also wonderful with young children and loves meeting new people – he may be a little unsure of men for a minute or two, but quickly decides they’re friends too.
He’s great on a leash and enjoys his walks, especially when he can explore the outdoors (fair warning: lizards and flies may distract him from his original mission 🦎). Because of this, a fenced-in yard would be ideal, or a home committed to multiple daily walks.
Max is fully house-trained – something that was new to him, but he’s done an amazing job learning! His future family should continue reinforcing the routines that have helped him succeed. He’s also incredibly easy to train thanks to his love for treats.
At home, Max is as easygoing as they come:
- No food or toy aggression whatsoever
- Not overly barky (but will alert you if someone’s nearby—hello, built-in watchdog!)
- No signs of anxiety, though thunderstorms make him want to be extra close to his person
- Loves lounging in his dog bed during the day and snuggling in bed at night
Car rides aren’t really his thing – but put him in a golf cart and he’s living his best life!
Max came from a loving home and truly thrives in a calm, affectionate environment. He’s looking for a quieter household where someone is home most of the day and ready to give him all the love and attention he deserves. In return, he’ll be your most loyal shadow and snuggle partner.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Max has received a vet check, vaccines, nail trimming, flea treatments. He is on monthly heartworm prevention.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.
The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
