Adoptable Dachshund Lucy – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Lucy

Adoptable Dachshund Lucy is such a joy to be around!  Once she warms up to her human, she won’t disappoint.  She will make anyone laugh every day!

Lucy loves being outdoors, she loves looking for squirrels and chasing them back up the trees. She will run to the door every morning waiting to go for a walk. Lucy cannot walk fast enough and her tail does not stop wagging. All Lucy wants is love, and she will love you back forever.

Adoptable Dachshund Lucy

She is a wonderful, loving sweet dog that will love lying next to you or on your lap.  But she needs time to warm up to you as she has shown a lot of fear from past experience. Although she begins warily, she very quickly comes around. Many would believe she’s the perfect dog!

Adoptable Dachshund Lucy walks well on a leash. It takes time to get her harness or collar on as she was initially very frightened of the leash. It’s best to let her come and sit, then put the collar and harness on her.

Lucy comes with her crate, and it must be left open at all times. This is her safe place, she often eats and sleeps in it.  If there are other siblings, Lucy needs to be fed in her crate or a separate room so that she won’t eat their food. She needs to trim down just a bit.

Lucy is not aggressive with her toys. She doesn’t mind car rides, she sits well either on the seat or in a car seat and belted in. She loves meeting new people, but takes time for her to fully trust. It will take her some time to get used to her new family and surroundings. Lucy wants the attention, she is unsure if her attention will be wanted.

She does not like the vacuum or riding lawn mower, but has not had any reaction to loud noises (including thunder), although has only barked when someone comes to the door. She does not bark at her foster’s neighbors; however, this could change as she gets more comfortable with her surroundings.

Adoptable Dachshund Lucy

With a gentle human and a fairly quiet atmosphere, Lucy does well with people who are around most of the time, yet she enjoys exploring independently. Her idea situation is someone who works at home and has a yard where she can play with a dog or two, if possible.

Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
