Adoptable Dachshund Henry – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Henry

Adoptable Dachshund Henry is a sweet 16+ year old doxie with a big personality.  Henry needs a quiet place to enjoy his (very) senior years. He’s a happy-go-lucky fella who “loves the one he’s with”. He’s a real people person who enjoys meeting new friends.

Adoptable Dachshund Henry

Henry came to his foster just after Thanksgiving, 2021. His fur was thin, his ears and eyes inflamed. Good food and meds have cleared all that up! Henry eats Earthborn Holistic Coastal Catch (sensitive skin and stomach).  His fur is full and a lovely reddish color with a darker streak.  Henry’s ears need to be cleaned regularly. Due to his allergies, he steers clear from the grass as much as possible.

Henry

Adoptable Dachshund Henry is usually quiet, until he wants something – then he can be very vocal. He gets along with cat, other dogs, and people. Henry has not been around small children. He seemed to blossom when his former foster (cheweenie) came to visit.

Henry enjoys little adventures and likes to go for a golf cart ride!

Adoptable Dachshund Henry – 16+ Years

Henry sleeps like a true Dachshund, under a blanket in his bed. He has full run of the house, but he chooses to be in the X-Pen (lined with piddle pads) overnight. He would
do better in a home with people around most of the time.

Henry should be gently taken outside immediately for “business”.  Henry was mostly trustworthy in the house, but now unable to hold it and pees at random times. Henry might do well with a doggy door, and needs someone around for frequent outside breaks.

Henry

Henry drinks a HUGE amount of water, emptying his bowl in one drink. When this happens, he pees a lot. It’s best to limit his water intake after going out for the night.

Adoptable Dachshund Henry has a good appetite, he eats kibbles softened in some water. Henry is very interested in what happens in the kitchen. He seems to love apples and many raw veggies.

Henry was food aggressive and would steal from the coffee table, and would not release. Now he is much better, and takes his treats gently. Henry begs to get in the car, but barks excitedly during the entire ride.

Adoptable Dachshund Henry had a Senior Vet Check, 1 or more Vaccines, Dental Exam, Medication (temporary – like for acute infection), Medication (permanent – like for seizure treatment), Skin treatments/ infections, Nail Trim, Heart Worm testing and medication. Meds include flea/HW monthly and Gabapentin (1/2 tab 1x day) for arthritis.

Henry is looking for his retirement home where he can spend time with someone on short outings, frequent breaks in the yard or short walks. He is a typical doxie with all the fun loving personality traits that make this breed so popular. He’s a sweetheart who deserves to live out his days in love and safety.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.
