Adoptable Dachshund LB is 4 years old and 20 pounds.
LB has a unique story, on Christmas morning, he jumped off a chair… and just like that, he hurt his back. By the time he came to us, he was down in the back – unable to use his rear legs. We shared about his emergency transport and IVDD surgery, and you rallied behind him like family.
Today, LB is pretty much fully functioning – with just a tiny bit of rear leg weakness that doesn’t slow him down one bit. He is is living proof that resilience can come in a low-riding package.
LB’s Forever Home Checklist ✅:
-
Wants an interactive, engaged companion
-
Understands IVDD and will continue to be mindful about jumping
-
Has a fenced yard
-
Feeds separately at mealtimes
-
Appreciates a vocal, affectionate, personality-packed dachshund

LB is a sweet, snuggly, active little love bug who wants to be where his people are.
-
🐶 Dog-friendly: Loves other dogs – especially big dogs! He’s vocal but friendly and enjoys proper one-on-one introductions.
-
🚶♂️ Great on leash & loves walks
-
🏠 Fully house trained
-
💤 Crate trained: Toss a few kibbles in and he trots right in.
-
🛏️ Sleeps in a dog bed (sometimes on foster’s bed!) – but always in the same room as his people.
-
🚗 Enjoys car rides
-
👋 Friendly meeting new people – just very excited and vocal about it!
-
🗣️ Not shy, not timid – he will absolutely let you know when he wants to go outside (fenced yard only, please).

LB loves food – maybe a little too much. He can be a bit of a glutton, so he’s fed in his crate to keep mealtimes peaceful. Easy management, and he does great with it.
He does bark when first crated if you leave the house – more “Hey! Where are you going?!” than anxiety. He settles quickly.
We don’t yet know how he does with children or cats.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, LB has received a vet check, vaccines, major surgery for IVDD and is on monthly heartworm preventatives.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
