Adoptable Dachshund Khalisee is 12 years old and 16 pounds, but don’t let her age fool you, she is one of the happiest, most energetic pups you’ll ever meet! If you’re looking for a fun, loving, ball-obsessed sidekick who brings joy everywhere she goes, this little lady might be your perfect match. 💛
Khalisee’s Forever Home Checklist ✅:
✔ An energetic adopter who can keep up with her love for playing fetch
✔ A fenced yard
✔ A home with no young children and no cats
✔ Someone patient with her house-training routine and understanding of her past spinal surgery
✔ A doggie door would be a big bonus!

🐶 Personality & Dog Interactions
Khaleesi likes other dogs but definitely prefers to be the alpha. She mostly ignores the dogs in her current foster home, and she’s friendly when meeting new pups, though she could take them or leave them. She reportedly grew up with a larger dog, but hasn’t been tested with big dogs recently.
❌ No cats – She was attacked by a cat as a puppy and never got over it. She will bark and go after cats.
❌ No young children – She does not do well with young kids.
🚶♀️ Walks & Activity
Khaleesi LOVES going on walks! She has a steady gait, doesn’t pull, and does great on a halter (not as good with just a collar). She has lots of energy and loves to play fetch and she will be persistent about it! A fenced yard is a must, as she wants to be outside playing as much as possible.
🏠 Home Habits
• House trained – but needs quick access outside. She uses her foster’s doggie door and sometimes uses pee pads. She may have accidents if not let out fast enough.
• Crates are a NO – Being crated causes anxiety and nonstop barking. Outside of the crate, she does well and does not show the same anxiety.
• Sleeps in her dog bed at night and stays put. She doesn’t roam and doesn’t sleep in bed with her person — just make sure she has her beloved ball with her.
• Not food/toy aggressive, but extremely obsessed with her ball (her most prized possession!).
• Not shy or timid, and she’s friendly when meeting new people.
Vetting and Medical
In our care, Khalisee has received a vet check. She used to take trazodone for her crate anxiety but has not been put in a crate in her foster home and has done very well! She was on glycerin for her alopecia but the vet advised that medication doesn’t work for alopecia so she isn’t taking it anymore. Khalisee had spine surgery in the past so anyone who is picking her up needs to be really careful.
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!
