Adoptable Dachshund Chopper – Adopted

Adoptable Dachshund Chopper *update – Chopper is now working as a therapy dog with his owner visiting retirement homes to bring smiles to lots of faces! He makes a great companion. He is smart, extremely smart. You never have to raise your voice, just give him a command. He loves to walk, car rides, anything as long as he is “with” you.

Adoptable Dachshund Chopper

This fella doesn’t particularly like a crate, according to previous information. He sleeps in his dog bed and is house-trained.

He’s been known to bark when you leave the house and when you return. He can be very vocal. Some extra training in this department is a good idea for him. He’s not been food or toy aggressive.

Adoptable Dachshund Chopper

Chopper is looking for someone who is around to spend time with him a good bit. He isn’t fond of other dogs, and prefers to be an only child. A couple who likes to walk and who is interested in having him along for the ride would be ideal.

Although he doesn’t seem to like other dogs, his jealousy has led to him going after another dog in his home, he does very well when meeting people. He’s a people person! Chopper is happy being the center of your attention and affection, but he refuses to share with other pups. Interestingly, he has been cat tolerant but would likely attack a kitten. The prey drive force is strong with this one. So, he is okay with big dogs and cats.

He’s only gone after the one dog, but his former owner is always cautious when he meets new dogs. He has done fine with another big dog in his home. It’s just obvious that Chopper isn’t a huge fan and prefers to be an only dog. This smart boy knows exactly what he wants!
