Adoptable Dachshund Mix Jack (26-157)

🐾 Meet Jack – A Fun-Loving Pup Looking for His Forever Family! 🐾

🐶 Jack

  • Dachshund Mix
  • Male
  • 1 Year Old
  • 25 lbs.

Jack is a happy, energetic young boy with a heart as big as his personality! If you’re looking for a loyal adventure buddy who loves to play, cuddle, and make new friends, Jack may be your perfect match.

🐕 Dog Friendly

Jack absolutely loves dogs of all sizes and wants to be everyone’s best friend! He thrives with canine companions and would do best in a home with another playful dog. Because he plays enthusiastically and can be a little rough at times, he would do best with medium or large dogs, or a confident small dog that’s comfortable with bigger playmates. Jack can be very persistent when he wants to play (typical puppy behavior!), and he does occasionally hump other dogs. He was recently neutered, and his foster is hopeful this habit will continue to improve.

🐱 Cats

Unsure how Jack would do with cats.

👧 Children

Jack would do best with older children. Because he’s still learning his manners and can be exuberant during play, he is not recommended for homes with young children.

🦮 Leash & Walks

Jack enjoys his walks and is eager to get out and explore! He walks fairly well on a leash but is still working on his manners. He tends to pull and bark when he sees people or other dogs—but it’s simply because he’s so excited to say hello and play! The busier the environment, the more excited he becomes. Jack is smart, eager to please, and would benefit greatly from continued leash training.

🚽 House Trained

Jack is fully house trained and has had no accidents or marking since arriving in his foster home. What a good boy!

🛏️ Crate Trained

Jack does great in his crate and happily goes in when asked. He sleeps comfortably in his crate all night, although he would likely adjust well to other sleeping arrangements too.

🍖 Food & Toys

Jack doesn’t seem to have an aggressive bone in his body. Like many puppies, he’s still learning how to be gentle during play, but everything he does comes from excitement and the desire to have fun.

🚗 Car Rides

Jack enjoys riding in the car and especially loves sticking his head out the window! He may bark at pedestrians while riding, but he’s always excited to be along for the adventure.

❤️ Meeting New People

Jack is a total love bug who has never met a stranger! He may bark at new people when they approach the yard or while out on walks, but once they stop to pet him, they’re instantly his new best friend.

🐾 Meeting New Dogs

Jack absolutely loves meeting other dogs and is always eager to play. Because he can come on a little strong and be very persistent, another playful dog would be the perfect companion for him.

💙 Personality

Although Jack is a confident, outgoing dog, his history suggests that people may not have always treated him kindly. He will sometimes cower or retreat if someone yells or corrects him, so he’ll thrive with a family that uses patience, kindness, and positive reinforcement.

Jack has shown some mild separation anxiety, but he settles down after a little while. He is not an excessive barker, only barking at people passing by the yard or while out on walks.
